My new friend visited me on the weekend. He rang me on Friday to say that he'd spent the previous night in a jail cell having got drunk and protecting a friend against the police and going a step too far. I told him to get a flight and come over so he did.
We chatted a bit and went out for some food with some of my friends then I took him round my home town. On Sunday we went to church and then he went home.
On satuday night we kissed.
This is only the second time we've met but we've text each other every day for the past 4 weeks and spoke to each other for hours last week.
Having spoken to him I know how depressed he gets and my worry is that I won't be a help to him but will actually be more of a hinderence to him ever sorting himself out.
He's the best man I've thought about getting involved with. I guess that doesn't say much for my previous boyfriends does it.
His court date is the 13th of May and he knows that there's a good chance of a big fine and is worried it could be worse. I've encouraged him to think about moving. Where he lives now means he has to keep to himself or go out with "friends" who encourage him to drink and get him in to trouble. It was one of these "friends" that he was protecting. He needs to see what happens on the 13th but I'm praying that they give him the chance to sort himself out away from where he lives.
On top of all this, a guy I was with about 4 years ago has got back in touch. He gave me his number for 'if i want to text him'. I've told him it's too weird and that I've left all that behind as a bad memory. Somehow I don't think it's the end of it.
Then... a guy who was our interpreter in Haiti has been emailing me. He thinks I would make him a lovely girlfriend (Haitian dating seems a little different to the British way). I think a boyfriend an hours flight away would be bad enough but Haiti is a good 10 hours away!!!
Boys are like busses. no interest from any of them and then 3 come along!!
