Magical Blanket
Far away a little girl named Marie lived in a place named Flamate, it was the most beautiful country in all the lands. Confused, wondering why someone in power could be so mean, she went alone to sit by clear blue, diamond sparkly spring. She was surrounded by soft green grass, trees with birds flying in and out of them, and the spring in front of her moving like a harp being played. They made her wonder if there was anything she could do to vanquish Lord Camila.
“Lord Camila, one of the peasants is going to try to vanquish you.”
“That cannot be true, all my people love me. Why would someone want to vanquish me?”
“Well, Lord Camila, after you kicked people out of their homes so you could turn their land just to expand your castle and every month you raise taxes, no one really likes you anymore. Plus this person is smart and all you people like her.”
“Then we must destroy her.”
As Lord Camila and his servant were trying to come up with ways to fight back, Marie decided to take a float down the Barakasski River. In her mind, the River was so peaceful to her and freely opened her mind. When Lord Camila went to get some fresh air on his balcony, he spotted her going down the river and then “pop” came a plane.”We’re going to put a big hole in her kayak, and she won’t even know it’s coming,” he said to himself.
When Lord Camila and his men were getting near, Marie had a strange feeling, like something bad was going to happen. Her eyes got big and she wondered if someone was near her. Every ripple she felt from being in her kayak gave her the shivers like snakes going down her back. She looked to her left and right many times and saw nothing but beautiful green trees. “Calm down,” she thought to herself, “its just mother nature playing. Then she started to relax with her soft long fuzzy blanket that was passed down to her. She closed her eyes, and that is when Lord Camila and his men flipped her kayak over and dug holes in it. Trying to find something to grasp, her blanket under her clothed belly flew her to shore. As she was on the blanket being taken to shore, she was staring down at it the whole time.
Now alone with some kind of magical blanket gave Marie a fright. With wide brown eyes she was staring at some kind of magical blanket floating about a foot off the ground, it then started talking to her.
“Marie, your whole life you have been wanting someone to always be there for you, as a friend.”
“This is not real, it’s just not. I must be asleep or passed out for drinking a lot of water when my kayak flipped over. Now if I close my eyes you will not be floating, talking, or moving,” she said pacing back and forth.” The blanket waiting for her to open her eyes decided to lie on a rock.
“See you’re on the ground, yes,” said Marie with excitement in her voice.
“What are you talking about, I’m still here, the blanket said confused.
Marie didn’t know what to think now. Could she believe a blanket or should she walk away? She decided to believe in the magical blanket. After all anything is possible. “Birds can fly, and you know what I guess blankets can fly. Really it’s not that hard to believe,” said Marie softly to the blanket she was looking at. Marie was silent for a while, a remembered when she would be over at her grandmother’s house all alone and sad, and all he grandmother would say is, “If you ever need a friend, believe in your blanket. All your answers will come true.” Her grandmother was right. “But how did her grandmother know about the magic? Marie didn’t have time to think about it.
“Darn it,” said Lord Camila. “Now she has a magical blanket to protect her. Why didn’t you tell me about that?”
“Nobody knew about this, your highness.”
“Then what good are you to me? Walking around in a circle thinking of different plans, he slowly turned and remembered that this boy might be close to her age.”
“Why are you looking at me like that,” said the servant.
“You can pretend to be her friend, and then get to know her strengths and her weaknesses. Then we will attack her.”
“But your highness, she knows that I work for you, how will this plan work?”
“It’s called acting. Really it’s not that hard. So leave and you better find out her strengths and weaknesses.”
Lord Camila’s servant was thinking about his plan, paused and then stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and realized that not only is he going to be a normal boy, but he will also be called a name. A name that he hasn’t been called for such a long time. “I can’t wait to be called Mike.” Mike has not been called by his name in five years. He was sold to Lord Camila because his family didn’t have money to pay off their taxes, and Lord Camila told his parents it was either their home or their child. Mike was eight years old when he was taken. First, he had to clean the castle, now he is Lord Camila’s right hand man. As Mike was walking down the dark gray sidewalk at about 9:00 P.M. he was getting very scared, he started running and finally stopped running but still with wondering eyes. No one was around and he only had five pieces of gold to help him pay for a place to stay for a couple of days. At this moment, Mike was getting worried if he would disappoint Lord Camila’s orders. When he was looking around for a place to stay, he saw a home that looked very familiar to him. With passion in his movement ran down a hill, jumped over many gates and ran through his brown hard door yelling for his mom and dad. With a big smile forming on his face and his heart beating very quickly he found a place, the most wonderful homey, loving, reliable place to stay. It was his home where he lived when he was eight years old. His parents running from up stairs were very excited to see him. Mike jumped into his parents arms. He never thought he would see them in his life. His parents hugged him and were very excited to see that he was doing well and was still alive.
“How are you sweety pie,” said the mother?
“I’m doing good. I’m not here long I have to accomplish something, but I saw the house and the lights were on and I had to come see you both.”
“You can stay here as long as you would like. Oh Nick, our baby boy is back,” with joyful tears flowing down her face.
“Oh what a beautiful morning it is,” Mike said while he was stretching in bed listing to the melody of mourning doves. “Yummy, I smell some bacon and pancakes.” Mike ran down stairs so he could eat what he smelled. “Pick whatever you like son, you mother and I have been cooking all morning to make your favorites.” Mike could see the joy they were having when he was there. He kept thinking about if they found out the true reason why he was out, so he could destroy a girl. But he tried to keep that thought out of his head.
“So what are your plans to do today son?” said the father.
“I think I might go out and do what the Lord told me to do, I can’t really tell you.”
“I understand,” said the father.
Mike went out to see if Marie was outside yet. What would he do, what would he say, how could he do this to some girl that has done nothing to him? But he had to, if he wanted to please the Lord. As he was walking, and looking around his home town area, he spotted Marie reading on top of her magical blanket leaning on a very tall bloomed tree.
“Hi,” said Mike.
“Hi,” with a quiver in her voice.
“I’m Mike and I just-
“What are you doing out here? Aren’t you Lord Camilas servant that tried to hurt me yesterday?”
“Yes, but I got fired because I wasn’t good enough to him and I was wondering if you wanted to be my friend.”
“Sure, why not.”
Marie was still nervous about trusting a person that tried to hurt her. But to her, he was cute and probably didn’t mean to hurt her. With those beautiful blue eyes with the brown hair, how could she not want to be friends or at least feel bad for him.
“So what is this?”
“Oh this is just…just a blanket.”
“Really, that is cool. You know I usually name by blankets so when I want to talk to someone I can call it something. Have you named yours?”
“No, but that is a good thought, I guess I will name it.”
“Thalden, is my name,” said the blanket.
“Wow, it can talk.”
“I know, I didn’t really believe it when I saw it but after a while I got use to it. So now I guess I will be calling it Thalden,” said Marie with excitement.
Mike was actually happy that someone normal accepted him for who he was. But he knew what he had to do. He had to turn on her and receiver her information.
“So Marie, what is your favorite object in the whole world?”
“Well mike, I think it would have to be Thalden now. He is my best friend. And he will never turn on me. And maybe that’s how you and I can be one day.”
Mike was very excited to hear that. He actually had a true friend to turn to and also talk to. How could he turn on her into the Lord and destroy her?
“What’s wrong Mike, you look sad or depressed, is something the matter.”
“Ya, ya, everything is fine,” Mike said with sadness in his voice looking at the ground.
That night when Mike was lying outside in a hammock looking up at the bright stars he was sad. “Why oh why did I have to be the one to becomes friends with Marie? She is the nicest girl in the whole world. I can’t turn on her. She accepts me for who I am. Please someone help me.”
“Hi Mike,” came a voice by the front door.
“Mom, did you hear me?”
“Yes I did.”
“I’m sorry mom, please don’t think of me as a bad person, I was just following Lord Camilas rules and…”
“Shush, you don’t have to explain yourself. All I want to tell you is that whatever you do, your father and I will stand by you no matter what choice you pick.”
“Oh mom, my mind is telling me one thing and the other is telling me to do another.”
“Are you sure you’re not just listening to Lord Camila?”
“What’s the difference? They both are telling me what to do.”
“Listen do what your mind is telling you to do.”
“But he might try to kill me or worse take away your home. I can’t let that happen.”
“Listen to me, he will want to take away our home more than kill you. He knows how much you love us so he would take the thing that is most precious to you. Don’t worry about us. Think about yourself for now.”
After 3 days, Mike had to return to Lord Camila. It was hard for Mike to say good-bye to his parents. “It won’t be good-bye for long mom and dad,” looking at his parents with a small smile on his face. Carrying his things and walking back to Lord Camilas place was frightening to him.
“Oh happy day to me,” said Lord Camila.
“Hello, Lord Camila, where are you?” went an echo down the castles halls.
“Oh servant get up here I need to know everything you found out about that so called Marie.”
Walking through the front door with no excitement to see Lord Camila came Mike.
“My name is Mike,” he said with a attitude.
“Like it matters to me.”
Mike was very scared of what he had to tell Lord Camila.
“So servant, what did you find out? Tomorrow is the day we are going to attack her.”
“I found out nothing.”
“Right nothing. NO really tell me what information you have. Hurry you’re wasting my time just by standing here listening to you.”
“No really, I didn’t get you any information.”
“You what,” Lord Camila said hitting a table making everything fly in the air.
“You heard me. I got you nothing. What are you going to do about that?”
“I’ll tell you what I’m going to do about that. I’m going to take away your family home, or you could just tell me the information and everything will be okay.”
“No. Marie is my friend and I’m not going to turn on her. If you want the information you get it yourself.”
Mike ran quickly down the castles halls, down the stair, and through the door, running to Marie to tell her what is going to on.
“Hurry catches that boy,” Lord Camila said pointing his finger at Mike.
“Marie, Marie, where are you?”
“Thalden I think something is wrong with Mike. I think I hear him calling for me.”
“Mike, Mike, I’m over here by the spring. What is the matter?
“Lord Camila is coming for you. I don’t have time to explain but we must hide.
“A ha, we got you now boy. You can’t keep running away from us,” said Lord Camila with is other servants standing beside him.
“Let him go, said Marie. “He has done nothing.”
“Oh, but he has. He has been helping us catch you so we could destroy you.”
“What,” Marie sighed.
“No, Marie don’t listen to him. He is a liar. I care about you. Thalden, you know the truth. Come on, please help me.”
Lord Camila then dropped Mike and picked up Marie. “Let’s see how well you can swim little miss.”
“No, stop, don’t hurt her, hurt me,”
“She did nothing to you.”
“I’m the one that disobeyed you, so take me not her.”
“Wait, what is going on?” asked Marie.
“What’s going on, is that Mike was going to get information about you. Like your strengths and weaknesses. But he didn’t and now he is going to pay for it.”
With a magical twist and touching Lord Camilas head and the servants head, a cast was set. Lord Camila and his men were under control.
“Drop Mike, or should I say servant,” said Thalden. “Your turn Marie, tell them what to do. We only have a couple of wishes.”
“Put yourselves into jail. Mike your turn. Whatever you want, you tell them.”
“Keep your selves in jail for the rest of your lives.”
All three of them made their wish on Lord Camila and his servants. As the cast was about to end. Mikes parents ran out from their house and very quickly said, “Mike is to become a free boy.” Mike was overly excited to see his parents and make the wish. He is now a free boy that could do whatever he wanted. As Marie was walking slowly to Mike she was saying, “Well, sense you’re free I guess your first thing I want to give you is a kiss.” |
