The tricks of the mind

Have you ever met someone who is sick and acts like the world has come to an end? Am I the only one who finds this sickining? Well this is exactly how my father acts, just a couple weeks ago his work had all the employees go through with a physical. My mother recieved his test results, and lets just say he's at high risk for everything they tested him for. Now listen here, after my father found this out, he has acted like he's dieing. He's gone to the DR. and had him do every test possible, and the guess what.. DR found nothing wrong. Okay so whats going on here, anyone have any suggestions?  I have one, my father is just wanting attention.

Alright just got an update with some more information about my father today. Call my sister and I found out that my father is going to see a "Shrink" because something is wrong. The funny t hing is, I'm not the only one who thinks he's putting on a show, his brother, my mother, sister and I all think he's faking. Doesn't it just seem odd thought, he's fine until he gets his test results back. Now depression is setting in. I also have my own outlook on depression.

I believe "Depression" is something someone creates, its not something a drug can help you with, its something you yourself have to fix. I mean lets get real here whats the point in taking an "Anti-Depresant" when a side affect says "may cause you to have thoughts of siucide." How is that going to bring you out of a depressed state. Its all phycological if you ask me, its in your head.
You have a party ( now I've done this) and you have a punch bowl and tell everyone its has alchole in it. They drink a couple glasses and start thinking they are drunk, ( this is funny you should try it) its the phycological aspect of it. Its all in your head, you yourself knows what depresses you, so therefor you have to be the one to correct it. A pill doesn't know "left" from "Right" so how is it going to know whats the cause of your depression? Does anyone understand what I'm saying, or feel the same way?

This is what I believe is going on with my father. He heard he's at 'HIGHT RISK'  for everything, so his mind is tricking him into thinking something is wrong. The DR. isn't finding anything threatening, so now he thinks its Phycological. In other words my father is driving hisself crazy, and its frustrating everyone in the family. Maybe the Phycologist will tell him the same things we have "ITS IN YOUR HEAD."  Well I'll keep you posted on the news when and if I get anymore. But in the mean time, plz do comment I love getting them!

I love your outlook on depression and medicine...II feel the same as you about people belieing certain things if it is staring them in the face in black and white.. How old is your dad? is he overweight??Mid Life crisis setting in? Yes Men have a mid life crisis too..Just ask your Mom about that one......Have you thought of going into Physychology as a career???
I think you could really get people to "GET REAL" about what is going on........Cant wait to hear what the physco says.......until then,........

Hypochondriac...I know plenty of them. If they read about symptoms...they have some rare south african disease...a side note I was put on anti-depressants for a while because while being very sick my hormone levels went berserk and my body couldnt maintain them, therefore my doctor put me on some medecine for awhile until my levels got back to normal. I do agree though, I think too many people use depression as a crutch..as well as add...
