 8 teens against one.
I'm sure everyone has heard the story and or seen the horrifice video of 6 Teen girls ganging up and beating one girl. It just burns me up to know that people do this. I know that violence doesn't solve anything, but a part of me would like to tear all of those other girls apart, and give them a taste of some real ass beaten. You have no idea how glade I was to hear that they are all getting charged as adults, that just brightened my day. I can only hope that the sentence they recieve is well justified.

I'm sure alot of you are probably thinking "oh but they are only teens" I don't give a damn. They thought it would be an adult thing to do this, then let them know what its like to be tried as an adult. For crying out loud they could have killed this child, I can only imagine what she was thinking the intire time this we happening to her. Now as for the mother defending her child because she did nothing to this girl. She seriously needs her block knocked off her damn shoulders. I don't care if her daughter touched her or not, the point is she lurred her to the house as a 'FRIEND" and stood there and watched these girls brutally beat her for 30 mins. She did not call the police, she didn't try to prevent anything, so her ass is just as involved as the rest of them. For example, I go to a house with a friend, everyone there is smoking crack, the house gets busted and I'm just standing there not doing anything, I'm getting charged. So it should be no different for her, she's just as guilty as the rest of them.

This all supposidly started because the victim was posting stuff on myspace about these other girls. Well in an interview the victims parents said that their daughters myspace was hacked not once but twice, so one of the girls involved in the crime could have posted that stuff because they didnt like the victim. But thats just a possibility, even if the victim did say things about the other girls, did she deserve what happen??? Just thinking about that video brings tears to my eyes. You can see this girl pleading with them to stop, and noones having mercy on her. My sister and I have already come to conclusion that if the verdict isn't justified we'd like to try and do something about it.

Well ya'll leave me some comments on this plz, i'd like to know ya'lls thoughts.

You hit the nail on the head.

I've only seen parts of the video...I really can't bear to watch the entire thing...but I just don't understand why kids do this to each other. Why do they think it's okay?

I agree with your sense of righteous indignation. But we must also remember that the girls involved are people too. To vent your frustration is entirely appropriate, but your last line is a cause for worry. "...if the verdict isn't justified we'd like to try and do something about it." We have a system that is designed to provide justice. When we decide that we didn't like the decision therefore the decision doesn't count we start down a slippery road to mob rule.

I too wanted to jump through the TV screen and slap those girls, but I must also remember that lowering ourselves to their level is not the answer and does not promote peace.

all the parents should have their blocks knocked off for raising children to think this kind of behaivor is acceptable. They'll realize once they get to jail and become bertha's bitch.
I didn't even want to watch the video.

I'm sorry but if my daughter did something like that...I would beat her ass.

yeah we do have a system that is "Suposed" to povide justice. But I have witness situations where justice was not served. A highschool friend of mine was murder, her body was found underneath this guys shed, and he got 4 years in prison. HOw is that "Justified." So there does come a time and place where you do have to step in when the law is not justified. Like I said before, these girls almost killed this child, and if the sentence isn't justified, then something should be done.

As a teenager, I feel that my opinion might give a little different perspective. I feel like what these girls did was very wrong and that, yes, they should be tried as adults. I am disgusted with my generation. However, I think I can help clear up the confusion as to what might have prompted the girls to do this.

There were probably many factors that fed this incident. Internet, peer pressure, neglect, self-image, violence in the media.

The internet is a factor because the video on Youtube was the ultimate goal of the disgusting crime. It was probably the place where all of the teens pooled their ideas and planned the whole thing.

I can't imagine that any one of those involved didn't know it was wrong to do those things to another living, breathing, feeling, human being. I think that it was probably brought up as an angry idea, someone caught in the lust of rage. Once the opinion was voiced, others felt obligated to agree. Since it was validated by peers, the original idea-maker felt bound to the plan.

Not all people would feel bound by such a plan. Most people would listen to their hearts and realize how wrong this is, even if they "disappoint" their peers. However, these teens do not seem like they have enough self-confidence to leave the comfort of the group setting. As proof, look at how many teens were involved. They needed to "prove" their dominance to each other.

Since I don't know the teens involved, it's hard to say why they have such low self-esteem. I would probably have to say that their parents aren't involved in their lives enough. Where are the parents when this beating happened? How could they not hear the screaming? Those are just questions of actual physical presence, but there is much more to parenting that teens need. The parents likely either did not have strict boundaries, too strict of boundaries, or absolutely no presence in the teens' lives. Any of these things would lead to rebellious teens that feel either neglected or bound. These two things would lead to rebellious behavior, either to solicit attention, or to rebel against their parents.

Why they decided to beat a girl instead of some other form of mutilation or vandalism? I think it is because of the media. It is so easy to blame the media for a lot of societal issues, but I really think it is the case. To those who watch the primetime soaps, pregnancy isn't really about the new life coming into the world, it's about drama. The war in Iraq is not really a big deal, it's just numbers. A human life is just a number to them, just some drama. They lack the empathy to understand the worth of another person. The media numbs them with numbers, over-dramatization, lack of real consequences, the lack of emphasizing the gravity of serious situations.

My generation has grown up with split families, television as a foster mother , internet as a foster father, either no attention at home, or paranoid parents who lay down obscene restrictions. We are a generation who knows nothing in the media but sex, inequality, rape, murder, and war.

These teens are still at fault for their actions, but look around you- it is difficult growing up in these conditions.

Its rediculous what they did to that girl. If one of my friends did that, I would not be friends with them any longer. It's just not right. And I feel that it's mostly the parents fault of these girls because of the way they were raised.
