Before you read on, know that I am proud of everything I will say. I expect many people to disagree, and to those who are wondering- I do not expect you to take on my personal views, they are my views, and I am simply stating them.
I believe in God. I believe in Evolution. I believe in freedom.
I believe that God did create us all. I also believe that there is a devil in spirit, that tries to lead us into temptation. I do not however believe that the bible is in God's exact words. The bible talks a lot about things that lead me to believe it was in fact partially written to express someone's personal beliefs- and was not in God's word. One example is that the bible talks about gays being sent to hell. I however do not believe that God discriminates like that. Saying all gays go to hell is like saying all white people, or all left handed people go to hell. People that are gay don't make the choice- they are born that way. God makes people-forms them into beings, and gives them personality traits and characteristics. If God was so set against gays he wouldn't make them- would he? If you can look me in the eye and say that you truly believe that God made a person the way they are and then hated them for who he made them, then I want you to read the whole bible(again or for the first time) straight through and see if you can really believe that God would discriminate like that.

Awwww my next best subject to discuss only surpassed by sex, now that I have gotten many years older the one thing I have found out about religion is that people like to use God and Jesus for an excuse to be narrow minded Bigotts.

I think the whole anti-Gay thing comes from the part in the Bible about Sodom and Gommorah. There were men in Sodom who wanted to have sex with some male travellers. (that's where the word 'sodomised' comes from, i guess)
Anyway, here's an interesting quote from Genesis 19:6-8
"Before the guests went to bed, the men of Sodom surrounded the house. All the men of the city, both young and old, were there. They called out to Lot and asked, "Where are the men who came to stay with you tonight? Bring them out to us!" The men of Sodom wanted to have sex with them.
Lot went outside and closed the door behind him. He said to them, "Friends, I beg you, don't do such a wicked thing! Look, I have two daughters who are still virgins. Let me bring them to you, and you can do whatever you want with them. But don't do anything to these men; they are guests in my house, and I must protect them."

I am a Catholic and I believe in God. I believe the Bible is a historical account of true stories. However, I believe it was written, not to tell us what to do, but to help humanity make its own decisions. Which is why, I guess, God allowed for different people to write different parts of the Bible.
Reading that part of the Bible tonight (which, by the way, is the first time since high school) made me realise that discrimination has been around since time began.
