Violence breeds violence

What is democracy?

In the UK we are democratic...aren't we? We have a vote. We choose who will lead our country. After that all hell breaks loose when politicians NEVER ask us what we think on really important matters like invading countries, terrorism, illegal immigrants etc. Why do we bother voting in the first place...any of them could lead just as badly as the others!

For instance going to war in Iraq. No one aksed us the public what we thought. I cant remember one person in my life that was pro invading. The general feeling around the country was that we shouldn't. Did it matter what we thought? A fat NO!

Politicians ie Prime Minister makes his mind up to do daft things like follow USA wherever they chance to invade leaving us open to retaliation by terrorists and the like. I know these baddies have got to be stopped but come on, need we be so gung ho? Innocent people are dying because of us. And because of us and our actions it comes home to us and innocent civilians die in the UK by the act of retaliation.

When are the Brits going to wise up and speak out? I am fed up of violence . It breeds violence!

Good question! Short of a revolution I am puzzled as to know the answer. I will say though that so many people are disgruntled and yet so few want to write to their MP, attend political meetings etc. The nearesr we seem to get is the tv programme 'Question Time' each week and thats to give us bluff answers to really good questions.
I think the UK public has no confidence in the political system nor its foreign policy.
I am not a racist ( I have good friends who are African and West Indian) but what kind of country are we that would let ourselves get in this state with overcrowding of immigrants? Most other countries juts wouldn't have it.

Ah Yes, I remember we are the forerunners in 'human rights'. Look where it is getting us. We seem to be a country that puts visitors first and ourselves second. Its almost humiliatingly embarrassing. We are not a rich country by any means yet we squander what little we do borrow on ways to handle people who want to live in our country. Meanwhile our health service is deteriorating, our schools are deteriorating and you are richer here if you DONT work! ( Average pay)
I believe that eventually Joe Public will take matters into his own hands. I foresee riots and God help us when we host the Olympic Games.....a nightmare!

we give so many handouts to people from all over the world yet this country has the least amount of respect across the globe, i always argue that if i could give my family a better way of life i would go wherever i could to do that but like you say to be british means you are a second class citizen, and the government wonders why our kids are out of control, gun crime is rising, agriculture is being killed off, super bugs are killing us! the answer is because no one is putting us first! why do british people come last on a list of priorities held by our own government! the best place to farm these days is in Poland, but there are no polish farmers left in Poland, english farmers are buying up all the land desperately trying to cling on to the only life they know!
like you, i am not a racist, but it is out of control, Polish men are being terrorised in this 'friendly' country because bosses all over are employing them because they can get away with a cheap wage, which does not bode well with the skilled english workers!
i could rant all day about this..but i'll stop now, you make a very good point Birdie x
