 The Guiding Light of Baptism
I am going to shed a little light on baptism and to understand the name we go forth regarding baptism. The order of preference should be for us to be Saved, Baptized, and then produce works as according to the Holy Spirit. I will provide scriptures regarding the above in the King James Version. The New International Version, also known as NIV from herein, has slightly different wording.

First, we must understand what is meant to be Saved and how to be Saved. This is necessary first before baptism. Nicodemus, whom was a man of the Pharisees, a ruler of the Jews, saw Jesus by night. Jesus told Nicodemus a man has to be born again in order to see the kingdom of God, which is found in John 3:3. Because Nicodemus was confused, he basically asked, how? Jesus answered him in saying a man has to be born of water and of the Spirit; John 3:5. Then comes the famous John 3:16 of which if we believe in Jesus, we should not perish, but have everlasting (eternal – John 3:16 NIV) life. It goes on to say that if we believe in Jesus, we are not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already; John 3:18. We must have true repentance which is found in Matthew 4:17.

Now unto my favorite topic, baptism. Most people believe in baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is where I come in to prove, by scripture, the baptism is done in the Name of Jesus. There are a few scriptures on baptism, but I am going to pick three and then go down deep to show how God and Jesus is the same, which is why we should baptize in the Name of Jesus, not Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. We all know that Jesus spoke in parables to his disciples for they had the keys to the kingdom. Now, to understand this better, who is the Son? Who is the Father? Who is the Holy Spirit (Hopefully, you said Jesus)? When Jesus said name, it is singular not plural. Therefore, name means ONE, not many like names. Jesus did not say baptize in the names, but in the name. In Acts 2:38, Paul says to repent (John 3:16 and John 3:18) and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remissions of sins (forgiveness of your sins Acts 2:38 NIV) and you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit Acts 2:38 NIV). Romans 6:3 says if we are baptized into Jesus Christ we are baptized into his death. Our old nature dies and we have the nature of Christ, even so we also should walk in the newness of life. One powerful scripture would be John 11:25; “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though were dead, yet shall he live;” So, who is the life and resurrection? Whom do we have to believe in to be saved, born again, or so we shall live (Hopefully, your answer was Jesus as the scripture stated)?

Now, the scriptures will prove that Jesus and God are the same. In other words, God is Jesus made man on earth for the ultimate sacrifice so we all may be Saved. There are places in the Old Testament that God says; “I am the Lord thy (your in NIV) God. As in the Ten Commandments, God said “I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage (Exodus 20:2).” It goes on verse three as God said not to have any gods before him. When Jesus was in the wilderness, fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was tempted by the evil one (satan). In Matthew 4:7-10, Jesus told the evil one do not temp the Lord thy God and worship the Lord thy God and serve him only. This ties into Exodus 20:2, in the Old Testament, where God says Lord thy God and Jesus said Lord thy God. We shall not serve two gods, so if Jesus said Lord thy God and God said Lord thy God, what does that make Jesus (Hopefully you said he is God)? If this is still confusing, then we can go to Revelation 1:1 and Revelation 1:8. The Revelation is of Jesus Christ, where Jesus reveals himself as John was in the Spirit. Verse eight, the Lord says he is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. In Genesis, it says God created the heaven and the earth. So, if we are not to serve two masters, then why would God say he is to be served, yet Jesus say he is the Lord our God and the Alpha and Omega? In Revelation 17:14, it goes to say the Lord of lord and King of kings. Since verse one states this is the revelation of Jesus Christ, it is safe to say Jesus is the Lord of lord and King of kings. If God wants to be served as in Exodus 20:2, then why does Jesus has the name above ALL names (Philippians 2:10)?

Once we are Saved and Baptized, we shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit shall minister to us regarding our gift or purpose in life in spreading the good news. Not all are called to be Pastors, Ministers, Teachers, or even Preachers, but we all have a specific calling upon us (1 Corinthians 12:31).

Hopefully, this is evident that baptizing should be done in the name of Jesus Christ, for the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, are titles of the ONE. If I had a child, that makes me a father, which is a title. I, being a father, have a name, which is Brian. Brian is the name that is greater than being a father.

Peace and Happiness to all.

You said..."In Acts 2:38, Paul says to repent (John 3:16 and John 3:18) and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remissions of sins (forgiveness of your sins Acts 2:38 NIV)"

Wasn't it Peter who said that?

Acts 2:38 (New International Version)

38Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Whats critical to know here is that he was talking to jews about the man they had crucified. I'm not exactly sure what you;re trying to say here...yes trinity? no trinity? whats the big deal about being baptised in Jesus name instead of in the name of the Faher, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...Does this division of the word edify anyone? Are you fulfiling the great commission through it in any way? You can't build doctrine off of one verse, especially one that you don't appear to understand...

Yes, Peter said that. In John 3:16 and John 3:18, Jesus said that. Most peope believe in being baptized in the trinity, not in the name of Jesus. I was conveying that Jesus and God are the same. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are titles. It is like IF I was a father, I have a child. The child calls me father or dad for they are my titles to the child. I would not sign a check Father Crump, but my name, which is Brian Crump. Brian is my name while father is my title to the child. Since we pray in the name of Jesus and every demon flee in the name of Jesus, Jesus is the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Hopefully, that explaination helped a little bit better?

okay, then explain to me who Jesus was praying to when He was here on earth? It seems as though you're confusing baptism with salvation, John 3:16-18 have nothing to do with baptism. When Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit came down as a dove. You see Jesus being baptized and you hear the Father in heaven saying "This is my beloved son in whom I'm well pleased", It's three different "people".

Jesus said...

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore and preach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,and of the Holy Ghost.

This means "by the authority of". Here it means by the authority of all three persons and not by the authority of Jesus only! He is the one authorizing us to recognize the others as well as Himself. This will help us to understand acts 2:28; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5. It is by the authority of Jesus Christ that we baptizes at all, it is by His authority that we baptize in the name of (by the authority) all three persons.

does that all make sense?

Jesus was praying to the Father, whom is Spirit. Jesus flesh was crying out. Remember when he said the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak?

John 3:16 has to do with being SAVED. We have to be Saved before being baptized. What good is it to be baptized if you are not Saved.

Matthew 28:19 states the NAME, not NAMES. Acts 2:38 states Name of Jesus Christ. So, what is the true way? As I said before, if I had a child, I am his/her father, which is a title, not my name.

Jesus is God and God is Jesus. Revelation 1:1 states this is the revelation of Jesus Christ. Revelation 1:18 Jesus said He is the Alpha and Omega, but in Genesis God created the world. Exodus 20:2-3 it states Lord thy God and not to worship no other gods. Lord is Jesus as He is Lord of lords and King of kings. Jesus and God are the same. We pray in the NAME of Jesus, not god. We worship Jesus, not god. Anything we ask in Jesus' Name is done, not god's name. So, if everything we do is in Jesus and God said he is a jealous God, then that sounds like we are serving two masters does it. Therefore, Jesus and God are the SAME. God was made flesh for the sacrifice of sins and to be Saved.

An egg like you've probably got in your refrigerator is composed of three parts, The yoke, the white part, and the shell. All three can be described as being "the egg" and yet all three parts are separate from each other. Sunlight is warm on your skin that you feel,(Holy Spirit) sunlight is what you see by (That's Jesus), while the sun itself is the source of both which is God. God the Father spoke the word,Jesus was the word, and the Holy Spirit did the work of creation. Jesus IS God the son,I definitely believe that! But it's not what I personally believe that matters, It's what the truth is that matters.I've tried to present my perspective on Gods word. I really don't think it was intended to be that complicated to understand, I also know that God is not the author of confusion. May God bless You in your search for truth Brian!

An egg, I can see your point, however, the shell is part of an egg. The yoke is part of the egg and the white part is part of the egg, but the main name of all three is what - the egg. If a person is to say we are to discard the shell, we can still eat the egg. The shell is one part of the egg, but the egg is the NAME.

If you believe that Jesus is God, then we are on the same page. The point I am trying to make is baptism is done in the name of Jesus Christ, not the titles.

Interesting you guys!, Isnt it simple that Yahshua [jesus] was the first begotten Son of all creation? Now Yhwh [god] knowing full well the cosequences of the extent of creation [the fall] extended Himself, the name above all names, through which all creation was to come, yet the two are one. All things come from the father but through the Son, and then there is the work of His Holy Spirit. The egg is a good example. Now the differance is, God cannot be defiled, He could not come to the earth, but on the other hand Jesus could, infact He gave up His glory as to when He was on mount Siani compared when He came and lived as a man, and even now He has a spiritual body as we will have one day, yet still retains the holes in his hands as an eternal reminder, as we will be with him eternaly, also as sons, an extesion of the extension so to speak, children of God. Yahshua will be of course the King of Kings as we will go forth and multiply and fill the universe for death is swollowed up. The Holy will always remain with Yahshua, for they do not marry.

Now with Baptism if we believe we are then washed [fully submerged] the old man is washed away, for we are a new creature, for now we walk as HE WALKED in the WAY on the narrow path, to be renewed in spirit..............AMEN

This is true, and hopefully, I explained it where it can be understood that Jesus and God are the same. Jesus was God in flesh, as you said.
