I need to believe that everything happens for a reason. I need to believe this for the same reason people believe in a god, a religion, or a good luck charm. I believe this because we, as humans, need to believe that there is more out there than what is in front of us at any given moment in time. We don’t even need to know where or what, just as long as we can have the belief that maybe, just maybe, there is truth, and justice, and fairness, and equality, and peace, and love, and happiness… for everyone. Some may see this as idealistic. Some may see this as naïve. I see it as a necessary in a world where we can’t send our children to school without worrying about a gunman entering their classroom or kiss our spouses goodbye before work without visions of the twin towers coming to mind. We need to believe that there is an ultimate integrity at work for us somewhere. If we are forced to take all things in our life at face value, we loose the magic in these moments. We loose the hope and joy that were in attendance for those who were willing to look for them. Having faith in something that is bigger than you is not a sign of weakness. It is only when we are modest enough to look outside of ourselves, that we can truly know who we are, and what our purpose is in this life. Have faith in yourself, have faith in others, and have faith… in faith.
