Well, the diet is over and now comes the really shitty part. Keeping it off. I have made such progress. Six months ago I was over six stone overweight, abusing alcohol and doing very little exercise. In fact none. Now I am slimmer (lost six stone, put one back on.......therein lies the rub) exercise frequently, but still find myself peering down a wine bottle two or three times a week.
The stone going back on is a shock. I have been here before you see. In 2003 I shed nearly a hundred pounds and it all went back on. It took 3 years, but I simply could not keep it off. This time I did a crazy diet. Milkshakes. All I had for 16 weeks, apart from the odd bit of chicken and green salad. I do not regret the diet, cos I shifted the weight so fast. I have however decided never to do something like that ever again. It has not cured my relationship with food and alcohol (a terrible one), and my hair has fallen out in clumps. I have little energy.
So why the blog? The blog is a physical thing I have to do every day to validate what I am doing to keep my weight down and to get this rebound stone off. I have decided to plan food intake and exercise output every day, a day in advance. This makes sense to me. Planning seems to be the success route to every good weight loss campaign....why not use it as a maintenance tool?
Food:
Breakfast:
Special K, semi skimmed milk
OJ
Break:
Apple, and banana
Lunch:
Huge salad
tuna or sliced ham.
Yogurt
Dinner:
Soup
2 slices granary bread.
Handful of grapes
Exercise:
40 minutes fat burning workout
20 mins hard core cardio
weights as normal.
30 minutes swimming
Ooh. That feels better already. Please God grant me the temperance not to regain the weight I have worked so hard to take off. Please.
You see, I know in my heart that I deserve to plan my food. All it takes is to take my special K and OJ into work tomorrow so I can have breakfast when I get there. I know the morning is hectic, with the boys and their needs. I know that if I think just a little bit about that salad bar at work I CAN steer clear of the mayo laden offerings and eat the vast selection of fresh veggies and non-fatty protein based foods. I know when I come home, opening a tin of wholefood soup is just as "challenging" as putting on two slices of toast while my L A R G E evening meal cooks. I need to get my gym kit ready the night before so I can get my ass to the gym on my way home from work.......that way I get there. Coming home first just aint going to happen. I need help, so any comments would be appreciated.
