I pick number two. When you get honest opinions from others you see things in a different perspective. You may not agree with it but it makes you re-evaluate how you feel and why you feel the way you do. That is how we grow.

While I like Number 1,
I don't mind number 2's - so long as it is tactful and informed. Don't assume to know someone from their blogs.
If it turns into a personal attack, or a harsh assumption, I do tend to bite back....

Interesting options to chose from that can be interpreted in many ways. My first interpretation is that you are asking: 1. Would we prefer to be lied to, verses 2. Would we prefer honesty. In that, my answer is always #2.
However, another way to read the survey is: 1. Would we like nice and polite responses, or 2. Enjoy someones rude and hurtful slander. In this instant, I would have to chose #1.
I think a better wording for the survey may have been 'Would you: 1. Prefer comments that are personal, loving and cheerful, or 2. Would like to see positive and constructive critism and feedback. But then again, it all depends on the nature of post or blog, doesn't it?

No. 1's that veneer we wear over the true thoughts. Pleasant though it is to hear wonderful things about ourselves, in what way does that serve our growth?
Yet the No.2 choice can give free rein to those who speak their own truths without pointing the way forward for the recipient of their attentions.
Much as we'd all accept No.2 on the right day, in reality it's a fair mix, the writer being sensitive to the feelings of the recipient. i.e. when someone's suffered accident, ill health or personal loss.

I like # 1 better, but in reality # 2 would be the choice I need thus I would want 2.
