 Save or $pend; It's All About The Money
It's not just a song by the O'Jays. It's the one fuel--next to food, water and oxygen--everyone seems to need.

$   $ $    "Money Money Money Money...MO-NEY!
Money Money Money Money...MO-NEY!"  $ $   $$

But, is it really necessary to cause so much added stress and threatten life over income?

$  $   $   "Money Money Money Money...MO-NEY!
Money Money Money Money...MO-NEY!"  $$  $   $

College loans that often shackle students to their debt in the hopes that they will find a job that truly makes use of their diploma/degree/major. Houses FORECLOSE.
Renters get evicted from apartments.

$$  $  $  "Some people...GOT to HAVE it!
Some people...really NEED it!"
$$  $  $

Extremely high medical bills which can be greatly reduced by paying thousands of dollars into an insurance plan which may or may not get used(it's just IN CASE).

$  $  $$  "For the love of money,
    $  $$  People can't even...walk the street  $$  $
Because they never know who in the world they're gonna beat."

Families that can't support themselves for whatever reason(take Mexicans fleeing over the US border for example) scramble to find a "better place" to improve their situation.

$ $  $  "For that LEEEAN, ME-EEEAN, mean green...
$ $  Almighty DO-LLAR!...MONEY!"
$$  $$

Credit cards...well, that's the spender's own doing(but interest fees are the dagger in the back, the fine print in "the dealer's" contract). Some of us try to do some good by donating to charities, but how do we know where the money goes if we don't spend it on those in need ourselves?

$$  $  "GOT to HAAAVE it! ...I really NEEED it!
How many things have I heard you say?
Some people...really NEEED it!
$  $$  How many things have I heard you say."  $ $

We get jobs which take up our time and energy/health often working for someone else who works in turn for someone else(up and up a financial ladder) all to make the MONEY we "need" for all these expenses life gives us(or should I say our fellow man gives us).

$$  "Money Money Money Money...MO-NEY!"  $  $$

There are women who love a man with money to buy them things/keep them "secure". "Gold-diggers "looking for "sugar daddies".

$  $  "Money Money Money Money...MO-NEY!"  $$

Many with a great sum of money like to flash it. You see rappers and the like always toting expensive cars, "slave" women, and jewelry that may cost a small fortune. What do you
think all that show does to people?

$  $ $ "I know money is the root of all evil
Do funny things to some people." $$

But, then we are also compelled to do other things with that same money. Gambling. Luxuries. Indulgences. Some...rather disturbing or at least shocking to those who struggle to "make ends meet."

$$ "Listen to me y'all... Do things, do things...do BAD things with it!
You wanna do things, do things, do things...GOOD things with it!" $

And then, there are those who will do anything for money.
Stupid stunts mostly. Then, there are panhandlers/street people.

$$  $ "Give me a nickel. Brother can you spare a dime.
Money can drive some people...OUT of their miiiinds!" $  $

People consumed by money. Cash scammers. Scalpers. Dealers. Thieves.

$  $$ "For the love of money,
People will steal from their MO-THER!...
For the love of money,
People will rob their own BRO-therrr!..." $  $

And, there are prostitutes of all kinds everywhere.

$  $ "Lay down, lay down, a woman will LAY down."  $$$

We constantly hear about the US economy failing and so many poor countries, etc. We mass produce things, stuff the food we eat to live with preservatives and chemicals to last longer on a store shelf(provided even that does not expire before it must be thrown out) and yet fill landfills with what we can't or won't use any longer. A world of waste. And, then we spend tons of money seeking out new worlds to "explore".

$$$$$ "Money Money Money Money...MO-NEY!" $$$$$

Why don't we spend more time and effort helping each other than worrying about how much money everything costs or how much we want to ask from someone for our services/goods?
If there was no profit to be made other than a favor or good/service in return, what would you/we do?

**I have/had some more thoughts to add to all this. This storm has been long awaiting/brewing. Til then, know that this song was unable to be found in a midi form without a COST. For the love of money, it seems it has been bought up by the man with buildings in his name, an extremely attractive daughter who speaks in stiff businessese and a reality show. Yep, none other than...

"Money Money Money Money...MO-NEY!"

it's so nice to hear someone else expressing their thoughts on our economy, its ridiculous the way wealthy people can spend thousands on unnecessary things even millions, they are completely nieve to the fact that more than half of our country is suffering in poverty or struggling to make ends meet. To me (because im an idealist and I never really think logically) I honestly deep down long for everybody to really care about everybody else and put others before themselves, if I had the power and money I would make sure everybody was fed before I sat down at my own table, but unfortunatly very few people think the way I think, selfless acts are rare, anyway sorry for the long comment but thank you for this post :)

A nice idea, young one, but I am sure given the resources, you would feel just as happy to spend as they do. Money provides a certain amount of euphoria in this world as well as power. And, it seems so much less likely that someone who accrues such wealth would find the way to distribute what they "earned" to all the lesser people as well as themselves. It's just not realistic. No, it would take removing the power of money to change outlook. Maybe the failing US economy and things like that writers' strike might open people's eyes to change. Or maybe it will just make the ones who are "on top" snag up more for themselves and say "sorry" to those below or who are not as savy.

Thanks for the input, though:)
