 Name That Tune
There are a few pieces of music I have heard in the time I have been at this site that elude my collection because they do not have lyrics. And, I don't have one of those fancy phone thingies capable of identifying a song from an audio sampling in the air.

So, I must resort to throwing these tidbits out there and pray that one of you readers knows what I am talking about so I don't come off as a crazed loon:P

Let's begin...

1)It's been used in cream cheese commercials with an angel spreading the stuff on bagels and english muffins. It's been used in The Simpsons when Homer was imagining the fancy car wash options he would have upon profitting from one of his "get rich quick" schemes. It's the sound of angels singing or humming a tune...something like "Laaaaa, la-la-LA...Laaaaa, la-la-LA....la, LA, LA, la, la, la, laaaaa...Laaaa, la-la-LA-la...laaaa, la-la-LA-la..." Sort of a slow version of Mozart's Eine Klein Nacht Music with the airy nature of his piano concerto 20. And/Or, a bit like tchaikovsky's Danse des Mirlitons.

2)The only tip I have is that its connected to the word "children" and it was used in a winter olympics montage especially for ice skating. It has a sort of techno beat with a strong piano input/influence. Something like "Do, de, do, de, doooo....BING, bang, bing, bong...BING, bang, bing, bong...Bing, bang, bong...Do, de, do, de, doooo...BING, bang, bing, bong...BING, bang, bing, bong...."

3)Does the name or words "Dancing With An Angel" mean anything to anyone? Heard of this piece? If you are familiar with the Nintendo Ninja Gaiden games, this has a very similar tempo and feel to it. There are a few rumbles of thunder in the background in between a consistent beat. It's rather fast paced. [I can't quite replicate the beat/notes on this one.]

4)Does "Dance 5" mean anything to classical music fans? That is all I have to go on. It's a very old time piano sounding piece. Almost like a silent movie or old western. It shifts between fast and slow tempos. "Dooo, dee, dooo, dee, dooo, do-do-do..."

5)It has a woman's voice in the background singing the lyrics of--I think--another version of the song "The Look of Love" but the beat is very modern and techno-like. It has the feel of a fashion show runway piece. It makes you want to walk in a long, flowing coat with the tails flapping in the air.

6)The lyrics seem quite apparent, but I have not been able to locate the song or the artist. It goes something like "No house, no heat, no car, no seats... Come as you are; come as you are; come as you caaame..."

If anyone can identify the names of any of these songs and the artist, I will be ever so grateful:)

Let me have a try:)

1)Absolutely no idea with this one.

2)"Le Disco" by Shiny Toy Gun. The song starts with:
Hello little boys, little toys
We're the dreams you're believin'
Crawling up the walls
Running down your face........

3)"Dancing With an Angel" - by Double You. Does it start with: Oh na na, oh na na yea...

4)Almost difinitely Yohannes Brahms' "Hungarian Dance no 5".

5)It can be: "The Look of Love" by Sergio Mendez feat. Fergie

6)"Come As You Were" by The Bird and the Bee (Ha,ha this is the funny one). Some of the lyrics are:

No cares, no cars, no heat, no heaven, no mice, no might, no dash, no deal

Come as you were
Come as you are
Come as you came
All naked and drunk on heart and lazy
Come as you were
Come as you are
Come as you came
All heavy with love and sparks and crazy

Thank you, thank you!:) That's a good start, I guess. Wow, those lyrics ARE wacky. I didn't hear all that when I heard the song. And, I tried to tap a line or two in Google...didn't get an answer.

#2 is not Le Disco...it's not that new. Shiny Toy Guns hasn't been around that long. This was used in I think the Sarajevo winter games? Back when there was drama between Nancy Kerrigan and Oksana Bayul. [Not sure I spelled their names right.] And, as far as I know, there are no lyrics.

#3...I don't know if there are lyrics, either. I've just heard the medley(midi).

#4 and 5, I will keep that in mind. Fergie? Interesting if she sounds just like the original singer.

I wonder if you're referring to Annie Lennox's There must be an angel??

I may have to look into that one...but does that sound like a workout video tune? I suppose it does sound weird enough for her...but it seems more techno(though, again, I have only heard the beat via midi).

Nope, not Annie Lennox's 80s group. Wrong song, summertime.

AHA! Found #2. Easier than I thought it would be. "Children" by Robert Miles. You oughta check it out and see if you remember that winter olympics. Now, I just need to find it on CD.

It looks like you have found most of them now. I will try to help, but I do not know if I am able to. But I will let you know if I come across one :)
