| Thieves From Top to Bottom

McLEAN, Va. - Dogs aren't the only ones casting a longing eye at fire hydrants these days. Fire departments across the country report that thieves are twisting the brass nuts off the tops and selling them for scrap, raising concerns that the hydrants won't work when needed most.
Firefighters responding to an April house fire in Hesperia, Calif., found that the five closest hydrants were useless because thieves had taken the nuts needed to get to the water. They called in special equipment, but by the time they got the fire under control, the house was a total loss.
With the President and Vice-President of the United States committing 30 known felonies, and staffers like Karl Rove telling Congress where they can stick their Congressional subpoenas without any fear of going to jail for contempt of Congress, it's only natural that Americans seeing this will have the same opinions of our laws and courts.
Just this week I was summoned to jury duty and informed the jury commission in writing that considering the status quo, my conscience would not allow me to find anyone in this country guilty of any crime. And if I'm forced to do jury duty, I will be forced to find the defendant not guilty. They wrote back that this would not get me excused. So, if the person being tried turns out to be a petty thief or serial killer, he or she already has one "not guilty" vote. If a terrorist and mass murderer can fly around in Air Force One, then it's okay with me if mass murderers and/or terrorists fly around on American or whatever airline they choose. I'm reasonably sure if the Empire State Building or the Sears Tower is brought down like the World Trade Center was on George Exxon Bush's watch, then John Bush McCain will get to give Americans what they so righteously deserves, four more years of murder and mayhem.
