I do not rate this as anything but a selfish propoganda for the Republican Party. As for us Europeans we have a simple choice pay the insurance and you will get the medical service as and when it is needed. If one does not have health insurance then you have to foot the bill out of your own pocket. In Britain, National Insurance contributions are compulsory for everyone working or not. Private medicine is an option only if one can afford it.

As for what I do understand about Americans is that everyone at some time or other will need health care. This could come as a freebie from friend or relative or in the form of traditional medicine from the indigineous Indians. The option for modern medicine is expensive so it generally can only be afforded by the wealthy.

As for how your medical services will be extended further afield for those less fortunate is for you Americans to decide. Here in Europe healthcare has evolved over hundreds of years from the time of the Greek Empire down to the present day.
It is still under scrutiny and still evolving. It is possible to be flown to India for serious operations at a fifth of the cost here in Europe.

Hope this is usefull.

Thanks for your rating and the useful information. Going to India for a serious operation sounds interesting. Mr. Mahatma Gandhi is one of my heroes. So, yes, I might put my trust in a Hindu doctor.

I went to India in nieteen eighty one, and was taught by one of the the great Indian scholars of Yoga. Self help is still a reality. This guy Iyengar was introduced to the pope in the Vatican city for his work. The purpose is not to be dependent on medical science but to live a truly healthy life. And yes if you need help then turn to the medicaal people, which really piisses them off, because they have to to earn there living.

The more unhealthy the population, the better off they get. The problem is, that it ends up costing too much, so; 'better prevention than cure'.

Bob the notion that party interest is more important than the interest of the people is truly shocking.

Steve, it's the American way. Do you believe that every Republican in the US Senate in 2003 believed that invading Iraq was the right thing to do? They voted that way regardless of what they might have believed. Can you even begin to comprehend the fact that 35 out of the 50 states voted for Bush in 2004 knowing he was a habitual liar and was getting their sons and daughters killed protecting Exxon-Mobil's interest? Americans love war. Reason being, we fight them in other countries and they provide us with jobs. Never mind that we, as a country, lose money in the deal. Never mind that American youth are killed. The death of these young Americans is not that big of a deal because most of them are from the lower and middle income families. Americans look at everything as individuals. I do not even know the names of two of my neighbors. All I know about them is that they are Jews. So I just assume their names are Marty and Sal Goldberg or Goldstein and they are lawyers, doctors or jewelers.
