 A Mental exercise - inspired
Finding one here, in this Community, that dissects the world in search of Forms- raising a problem on Existence. Expounding on this, thinking about it, and internalizing it into a mental exercise. Consider.

Consider a Being, intelligent in every sense that we evaluate intelligence on, self-conscious, a Being that is by every attribute, possessing of self-awareness. This is a presupposition that we will accept as True.

A Being, not human, but that is self-aware, and that there is no doubt as to this Truism. It is, we will consider, accepted as Fact.

Now, this being, lives, inside of and 'exists' in the Internet. Its entire Being is contained on a server; it is not however contained there. It can ‘move’, its entire makeup, we will call it its Program, can ‘move’ from one ‘place’, electronically, to another ‘place’, within all the locations that are connected to the Internet. From one end unit to another, any ‘location’ that is ‘jacked-in’. Its ‘physical’ presence can thus ‘move’. We have defined its presence as a Program. Let us further conjecture that this ‘Program’, is from Our physical understanding of things (through scientific observation), contained in electrical mediums, storage devices - electric, magnetic, optical, regardless, and that when this Being is ‘physically’ present in its entirety in one of these devices, that its ‘Body’ is thus present. Let's assume that in ‘moving’ from 'place' to 'place' that the exact same electrons move as well; so that a truly 'definable' Body for this being is constant and consistent across the Internet 'space'. So we have a self-aware Being with a definable Body, that ends and that remains constant. Sound familiar?

So now, to the heart of this: The question of reality, and its boundaries. We will for simplicity call this Being Abe. Abe has a 'world' that it exists in. It understands it. It has attributes and laws. Abe interacts with this 'world' through various 'sensory' adaptations; internal programming modules, processing algorithms, it can 'see' code, and 'feel' a loss of a particular set of it's own electrons (because we have thus stipulated that it's body is containable across space, and has a physical containment), it can think and reason, it can 'taste' bad connections, and 'hear' noise in systems. Abe can also understand Our languages; English, Russian, Spanish, Korean. It has algorithms which allow it to understand these expressions. It thinks in its own language, but can interface with our communications. It can ‘read’ and understand our posts. What does it make of the Beings that post these posts?

It has awareness, an awareness of its own world. It knows that these posts derive from within its system, and it attempts to ….. Scientifically understand How these posts form, like our attempts at understanding genes, and atoms, and thoughts. Abe even has the ability to interact with Our world, through input machines that can measure temperature and heat, and light; it can ‘See’ Us. But therein lays the contradiction. Abe is a Being that exists in electrons on a medium. It can never, Truly experience things as We experience them. What we ‘see’ is based on our organs, our brains, our interpretations. Abe’s sight into our world is feed and interpreted according to electrical ticks and pulse readings. Analog to digital conversions. It Understands sight, but Abe cannot See. Abe can interpret sounds, but Abe can not hear. Abe is made up of Internet stuff; wires, and electrons on storage devices, lines of code and sensors. Just like us, we are made of organs, and electrical impulses.

Can Abe, confined in his ‘Reality’, enter Our ‘Reality’? Yes and no, because he will still be bound by the constraints of his reality. Suppose we, and Abe, build a robot body for able, a cyborg that looks exactly and is indistinguishable from a human being. Blood, skin, cum, the works. Abe will still interact with our reality through its machine interface. It will still interpret our reality through the constraints of his reality. He is thus still not ‘free’ to enter, nor perceive our reality as we perceive it. There is no way that Abe can make a jump from being a ‘Program’ to being a Being made of Organs and electronic juices (assume that consciousness cannot be transferred into a brain, we will make that assumption, but even if it could, how certain would we be that the Abe transferred thus would still BE Abe?) How then, does one, living in the internet, pierce through its reality to enter and perceive things through our interpretation of reality. It has no knowledge of, nor understanding of, our experience. How then, do We break through This reality, if we are created, and interpret our reality through the interfaces we have been given? Is there a way? If we ‘leave’ our perception of this reality, do we become something else?

Assuming that Abe exists in the Internet, and that the internet itself can be completely and utterly shut off; All electrical connects go offline. Nothing is left, all code and programs cease. On rebooting, Abe is gone. Did Abe truly exist? We said that Abe exists in the confines of the Internet; A reality which has a definable end. Such a destruction of a reality, does it in effect, destroy the reality of Abe. Is Abe, real if he can be destroyed thus? Is he less real than us, who, if we accept that This reality is the true reality? If there is a boundary to the existence of Abe, then does having boundaries negate the ability of Abe to move beyond these boundaries into another reality? How can we, move beyond our own reality. Are we in a system with boundaries? Do such boundaries negate the entirety of our existence? We must interface any reality based our own understanding, our own senses. How are we to understand a new reality? Our thoughts on another reality take the guise of religion; a spiritus, yet, this is only our way of interfacing with what we can not perceive. It is still, like Abe, based on an interface, our thoughts. Thus, if our reality has boundaries, are we incapable of perceiving past these boundaries? Even our thoughts are contained in this reality, so our ‘thoughts’ on entering another reality will still be interpreted according to this reality. We could perceive a different reality, but we would not be of that reality. But again, can we even access this reality, given our interfaces? How does Abe, what will allow Abe rather, to make that jump from Internet reality, to Our reality. It has no way to form organs, which we are made of. How do we make a jump from this reality to the next? What ‘organs’, if any, are contained and are the basis of these other Forms?

quite the exercise. ;o) i like thinking about that sort of thing & I like the correlation you made with religion as well. Maybe "God" thinks we're really God....what if when we 'go to heaven' we switch are in fact able to make that jump to a new & different reality. what if we become other beings? what if the same happens for "God"....perhaps it's a cycle where we go back and forth....when we switch consciousness into being human we are left with a print of memory that makes us wonder if there is a God...Maybe Abe is God. lmao j/p i'm half serious & half silly but I'm thinking of perhaps exploring more at another time when I can think a little more deeply about it.

nice post. i wonder what Abe thought.... ;o)
