When trying to trace or locate any tracks dating from the cosmopolitan era of Alexandria [1860-1961],some difficulties in the documentation process arises.This may be due to some facts as:
The decline in the cosmopolitan nature of Alexandria,although more profound in the year 1961 which witnessed the mass exodus of most non Hellenic communities,the Hellenic [Greek ] presence in Alexandria was still visible till 1975.Unfortunately,no photos are available for the city in the era [1961-1975].If anyone has any photos for Alexandria dating from [1961-1975],please post it to me to help in the documentation process.

17. Few laurel shrubs are present today in old Greek and Italian buildings and institutions of Alexandria.The photo is for a rare species of Laurel [Laurus azorica] from the campass of the Faculties of Science and Agriculture in 1999.The tree was most likely planted before world war II when this area was a high school for the Italian Community.Unfortunately,the tree was cut in 2003.The most common laurel species [Laurus nobilis] exists in few other places in old didtricts of the city.
