We fear what we do not know
I began this post over in the forum section so I divided it up and put some of it there and the rest here as a blog. The titles are the same

After reading several threads and post it is clear we all fear what we do not know. I understand the Muslim issue but I personally do not know any. I met a few on my trip to Israel in '93 and everything was positive. But it can be with any one group or race that is different from the one we are in. I was born white I had no choice in this; I have many black friends that I would trust my life with but I have found myself at times in an unfamiliar place and surrounded by strange black men and felt worried. But this does not mean I am raciest; I am sure a black man found in this same situation being surrounded by unfamiliar whites would feel the same as I did.

I have spent several years studying Judaism and have gotten involved with religious Jews and one day I will convert. What I learned like any group we all are taught about some race or religion from those on the outside and we base opinions from the few we heard about. The true Orthodox religious Jew has a lot to offer humanity, they are not what you think. My life, marriage, relationship with my children and people in general has improved from what i have learned from them. You see a lot of people hate Jews because of their success with money and business but did you know that because of what they have gone through in history they have placed the highest value on education? Thus putting them in a place to succeed in life. They are constantly learning something many strive for a life of learning.

I will be the first to say that there is a lot I do not know about other religions, races and nationalities. We all have our differences and strengths, customs and cultures.

To me this only shows how beautifully the flower garden is on earth but every garden comes with weeds and the dirty task of removing them hoping all along you do not uproot one of the pretty flowers with it.

The important point is that politics kills. Individuals tend to speak for themselves. Groups are easier to manipulate. We've seen enough of the mob mentality.
