| Pondering the internet and humanity |
I was sitting here pondering about the marvel of the net. I remember when I was younger I looked into ham radio. I wanted to do it so much but learning Morse code intimidated me. The fact that you could communicate with people around the world intrigued me.
Now we have he facebook, myspace , thoughts and so on we can communicate with and build friendships with people all over the world. I absolutely love meeting people from different countries and cultures. I love the diversity of humanity.
On here I can meet someone thousands a miles or kilometers away and see that there are some similarities in our lives no matter what nationality or race.
What I can not understand is with all of our similarities and differences but with the advantage of modern communication why does there still have to be hate?
There are religious and political views that I do not agree with and within them there are very destructive views and attitudes to others outside their group. But when I look at the person, I do not want to hate them I want to know them and they know me.
There is a lot of change going on in America and some of it is not for the best for our country as a whole. Some are saying the great American experiment is over. I find fault with the term American experiment. I do not believe our founding fathers were experimenting. I believe they had a goal to create a nation where ALL men had the same opportunity to life to the best that they could. Granted not all men have been treated equal and that has been a failing mark on our country. For the most part if you were not a white male you were second or last. The Blacks, Native American and many other people have suffered in our nation and it should not have been. Now the tide is turning and the white folks are getting a taste of their own medicine. But even though this is happening I feel that I am not one that is partial to one race over another; as a white southern male I want equality between all. What ever is good or bad for me is the same with my neighbor whom ever you may be.
Listen here my friends – G-d so loved man that He created him in His image.
What does this mean? No matter what race, what language you speak, what country you live in and so on; you care upon yourself the very image of G-d.
My opinion is that when one hates or dislikes a person because of color or language, etc. you hate and dislike that part of G-d.
I will close with a quote from the Talmud (a sacred text of the Jews),
“Why was man created on the sixth day, after the creation of all other creatures? So that, should he become overbearing, he can be told: “The gnat was created before you were.” (Wit and Wisdom of Israel)
