Dog Set On Fire Safe Rescued By Karma Rescue
A dog deliberately set on fire in Lancaster on Monday is being fostered by Karma Rescue as a criminal investigation into the incident continues.
The Pit Bull mix was spotted ablaze while running while down a residential street Monday night in Lancaster.
“Karma stepped in for Abigail,” said Rande Levine, President and founder of Karma Rescue, a Santa Monica-based dog rescue. Levine received a tip that the one-year old pit bull mix was at the Lancaster Shelter and received permission to move her to a local animal hospital where Karma will cover all medical expenses.
“Abigail is not up for adoption, until she recovers from 2nd and 3rd degree burns. However once investigation is closed we will find her the best home ever,” Levine said.
On Tuesday, Los Angeles County supervisors approved a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of person(s) responsible for this horrific act of animal cruelty. If caught, they could face felony animal cruelty charges.
Due to the portrayal of the pit bulls by the news media, Levine said that this incident exemplifies the abuse the pit bull breed often endures. “This is a wonderful breed. They take the pain and never turn mean. She (Abigail) had the need to give a kiss to the vet tech as she lifted her off the gurney, Abigail reached around, with burns all over her body, and gave her a kiss.” www.karmarescue.org
Ok Let me be the first to say that Animal Abuse runs rampant is this country, especially with the current housing crisis. People are actually locking their pets in the homes and abandoning both. Cruel !
My dogs are like my children, they sleep in my bed or in a dog bed. I walk them five times a day. Anyone who thinks a dog only needs to be walked twice a day should try only using the bathroom twice a day themselves. I cater to them yes. But I beilieve animals are the most perfect things on the planet. We Humans, have bred them, over bred them, used their utetus for profit making and then abandon them, mistreat them, ignore them . NICE !
I long for the day that dogs and cats are a commodity not a disposable item.
SPAY NUETER LAWS PEOPLE !!!
WE NEED THEM NATIONWIDE -
Worldwide actually.
When you vote - look at the candidates rating on animal items. Vote for candidates who support the one's WITHOUT voices.
How we treat our animals colectively and individually speaks volumes about us as evolved or archaic -
We can judge the heart of a person by their treatment of animals- Immanuel Kant |

Beth,
I truly wish things like this wouldnt happen. This poem is something I think you will enjoy.
In Peace,
Branden
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog,"
or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog."
They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog."
Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog,"
but I did not once feel slighted.
Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog,"
and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust,
and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
Because of "just a dog", I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future,
the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog",
but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being
"just a man or woman."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog"
just smile...
because they "just don't understand."
