Memorial Day & Things I 'll miss from Taipei
Its Memorial Day - spend a few moments praying for our war veterans. My father was a World War Two veteran and it really altered the way he lived his life. Although a fun loving man, he was not very ambitious and had a drinking problem.  My therapist claims the war did that to him and after seeing a few marriages fall apart amoung friends who have  husbands that served in this awful war - I believe it.  No one talks about suicide rates and domestic violence amoung returning soldiers. And studies have shown where there is domestic violence there is also animal abuse. Things to think about - not drink about.
Here in Southern Ca this weekend turns into a drink fest at the Beach.

Things I'll Miss about Taipei :

Ten Ren's Lemon Green Tea, or any ice Green Lemon tea - " half sweet " A tea stand on every corner.

The night markets - esp Shinlin Market that I never made it to , apparently there did Chinese Face Fortune Reading there.. I've always wanted to get that done.
I love the concept of shoping at night, so much more entertainng than TV , healthier than drinks and you don't even have to buy anything- just walk the blocks of stalls at the night market- stalls selling everything from stinky tofu to knock off Calvins.
Night shopping makes perfect sense - most of us do have day jobs !

Anyway back to the food- the highlight of my trip- Mongolian Hot Pot- vegs, seafood tofu or meat of your choice cooked at your table in two different savory boling broths- one spicy , one mild and almost creamier. By the way if you are Vegan in Taiwan you are pretty well going to be hungry. Meat is abundant and they manage to slip it into everything - even shrimp dumplings. So even vegetarians and those who just avoid any knid of meat have to be very careful. If you are flexible enough to pick chicken out of your soup you shoud be ok.

DIM SUM - you've never tasted dim sum this fresh, the shrimp noodle and shrimp dumpling was my favorite.

I went to a herb shop on my last night and bought herbs to make Hot Pot and Soup with and also herbs / berries that make this delightful flower Tea with Gogi Berries

I'll miss Rex, Jenny, Betty, Sean and Lola and it was nice spending some time with YogaFit Trainer Sybil Nance again too.  I can't wait to go back !
