Well I am learning a lot about the culture. For starters fitness is big here, clubs and yoga studios everywhere in Taipei. Stress and overtime culture is also big and Cancer is the number one cause of death. Today we went to the Hope Foundation a Cancer outreach center that has outposts in some hospitals. The survival rate for a cancer patient is about % 46 due to late detection. YogaFit has classes at some of these centers and of the 300 or so Trainees we have , many will do their Community Service for Hope. www.ecancer.org.tw
Yesterday I taught a YogaButt Master Class and Business of Yoga Workshop. I will be uploading some great photos on Saturday. We also visited a temple - there was a ceremony going out, chanting and gonging- I found it very moving , a deep sense of familarity , which was simultaneously gratifying and emotional, i was actually brought to tears.
The food here is OUTSTANDING ! I am getting my fill of dim sum, dumplings and more dim sum.
I have seen only two overweight people, everyone eats small portions and they don't seem to have our Western " all you can eat" mentality. Yesterday we worked out at California Fitness - its a large club chain like 24 Hour Fitness ( its actually owned by them ) but more upscale. I have never seen so many cardio machines in my life in one club :)
More to come......
