Well, my poor Tasmin continues to be hugely overweight. I did not follow through with my plan for a variety of reasons not even worth sharing. Now it is over 100 degrees each day, and it would be unsafe to take him out during the day or night due to the frying pan-like sidewalk, even at night time. It would seem logical to wake up early in the morning to take him out, but I have recently (past 2 months) been cycling 4-5 mornings a week. Having a schedule where Tasmin only walks 2-3 days a week in the early a.m. defeats the idea of "100 days to a new Tasmin," but his ever increasing girth contines to be disconcerting.
Because of my pets' ages (T = 10, K=12), I started to get stressed about their iinevitable passings (my mother lost two dogs recently: one after an unsuccessful tumor removal and a second one was put down due to her loss of dignity and chronic pain/suffering). What do I do? I start having severe puppy cravings, especially since my sister-in-law announced her pregnancy to the family, and madly scoured webpages and newspapers looking for a puppy. The result: Riga, an 8-week bundle of love who is now the bane of Tasmin's existence. Had I known how badly Tasmin would take this new addition, I would have continued to suppress my "baby" stirrings until it was the right time to add a new furry friend into the pack. Now the tension is causing hair loss, passive aggressive defecation in the house, and a very angry disposition. This from what most people would have characterized as the most tolerant, low-key, and laid back dog known to my family.
Now I suffer with the double punch of guilt related to my obese AND angry dog...
