 Thigh High Boots
 October 28, 2009

One of my absolute favorite trends for this Fall/Winter is OVER THE KNEE/ THIGH HIGH BOOTS! They are sexy and chic and can add a little punch to a simple outfit.   But there is still one question I keep hearing over and over.....How do I wear these insanely hot boots?!  Aside from wanting to avoid being asked "How much?" walking down the street, you also want to avoid the slumpy look, by creating too many visual breaks on your body.  Instead, create a long, lean silhouette, one that will appear to extend the length of the leg.  Here are a few tips to allowing these boots to make their bold statement while still remaining chic and not going too overboard on the sexiness.
  • Wear them with tight skinny jeans  (they fit easier into the boot).  In order to really get the lengthening affect choose colors that compliment the color of the boot, this will help avoid making that visual break on your leg.  Wear a tunic or a longer boyfriend jacket to keep the focus on your legs even more.
  • In addition to skinny jeans, you can wear them with opaque tights.  I recommend matching the tight color to that of your boot.  Pair the tights with tweed shorts or a mid thigh skirt and your outfit goes from drab to FAB.
  • Wear them with leggings, they are also super easy to fit into the boots and since they are fitted they create the same long leg look as skinny jeans or tights.  Top this outfit off with an over sized sweater to keep it conservative and stay warm this winter.
Remember to keep the rest of your outfit fairly neutral and add interest with textures like tweed, suede or a chunky knit.   To keep a casual look choose boots that are flat, a wedge or have a stacked heel.  Avoid a tacky feeling by staying away from a tall skinny stiletto heel.  Accessorize your thigh high outfits with long scarves, chunky jewelry, large hobo bags and over the knee socks to add a layering affect.

I love it too XD
especially with tights
and the cape trend
but the problem is that they only look good on tall people
:P
so I'll just have to settle for my just below the knees purple boots

Those of us who are on the short side can actually pull off these boots IF worn correctly and paired with appropriate apparel for our body type. It will help elongate your body and make you look even taller. =)
