The truth the bible reveals
The Bible is the most published book in the world, but yet we still have many unanswered questions. For example, what is truth? Is it what the majority suggests? What is beauty? Is it what god has programmed into our thinking, or is beauty based on what the culture suggests? What is real? Is it what you can see and touch? If so is love real? Is pain? Is hope? What is right? Is it what the government allows? If the government allows rape or child molestation then is ok? The bible has answers for all of these questions!
Metaphysics is a branch philosophy that examines the nature of reality, including the relationship between mind and matter, substance and attribute, fact and value. Colossians 2:17 gives a very easy and straight forward answer. “These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ”. Colossians 2:17 is important because, it bluntly states that Christ is reality and only Christ. Genesis 1:26-28 “Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." In this verse God states what we were created from. We our images of god. Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails. In this verse the lord explains how our will is not of impotence but it is his will that should be our priority”.
Epistemology is a branch of philosophy that studies the nature of knowledge, its presuppositions and foundations, and its extent and validity. 1 kings 17:24 “then the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth." In this verse God states that the bible is the truth and when you speak of the bible you are speaking the truth. Psalm 15:2 “He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart.” In this verse God explains how as Christians, if we avoid sin and treat others as Jesus would, our hearts will be filled with truth.
Ethics is a branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions. Genesis 9:27 “if you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." IN this verse do explains the importance of denying sin and persevering. Truth is righteousness. Genesis 6:9” this is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. Noah was in the truth because he walked with truth. He walked with God. Genesis 18:25 “Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" In this verse God explains how we are not to judge and to treat our Christian family special so that outsiders can see what god has done, so they can see the truth!
Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that deals with the nature and expression of beauty, as in the fine arts. Psalms 45:11 “The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord” In his verse God expresses his feels to your beauty and how great he thinks you are and how much he loves you. Psalms 37:20 “But the wicked will perish: The Lord’s enemies will be like the beauty of the fields; they will vanish—vanish like smoke. This verse explains how beauty is temporary and how it will pass as the lord’s enemies will and how smoke fades.
The Bible has many verses that support all the questions you have about what it right and wrong, what is beauty, what is truth, and what is real. I have only shared a small handful of what the bible has to offer. For these questions you have to find the answers yourself, by reading the bible and opening up your heart!
