 Transitions Big and Small
Lots of transitions going on in my family right now, both big and small.  The most recent one (big to me but perhaps small to others) is that Aidan, our youngest daughter, moved into a Big Girl bed yesterday.  We took down the crib Tuesday morning and Tuesday afternoon a set of beautiful bunk beds were delivered for the girls' room.  Tessa, being 10, was thrilled with the top bunk.  She was full of plans for her new private space.  Paul, being 8, was not thrilled with their bunk bed, because as he mentioned several times, HE wanted a bunk bed.....being the only boy, and having his own room made having a bunk bed unnecessary, but he was not consoled.

But, shortly after the beds were delivered and set up, he and Tessa were exploring the top bunk, making games and having a good time.  Aidan was unsure about her bottom bunk. But the excitement of the other two transferred to her and soon she was crawling all over it saying, "Mine! Mine!".  I put a bed rail along the side to keep her in, and wondered how she would do when it was time to go to bed.  It was a hard day for me.  I was excited for the girls to have their new bed and their newly decorated room, but I was sad because she is our last baby and taking down the crib was a milestone I had been dreading.

Her first night went great.  I tucked her in, covered her with kisses and we said our prayers.  Then I left the door open a crack so I could watch her.  She sat up, explored the confines of her lower bunk, then laid down sideways and fell asleep.  I crept in after she fell asleep and took a few pictures and sent them to my parents.

Aidan is growing up.  Things are changing.  I can no longer call her a baby.  She was 2 in April, she is learning to use the potty.  She is insisting on dressing herself, and is insulted if I intervene, even when two legs are in one shorts hole and her first step lands her right on her face.  She's my fabulous little girl.  Her name is Irish for FIERY...and she is certainly that.

God has blessed me and I am so thankful!
