The camden association of street properties has been in operation since Oct 2004.
In three and a half years what has the casp committee done for its wider membership - how has the general members benefitted from casp being in place?
The answer is that the casp committee have done nothing for its 6,551 members. In fact casp did start off having 7,326 members but mysteriously 775 members (units/properties ) have disappeared from the list of properties camden holds.
Casp claims to have 340 registered members - this I doubt very much and with the help of the housing director wants to make casp like the the feds, with unregistered members being part of casp but not having voting rights. Ultimately rodgers and dando want to get their grubby hands on a share of the funds given to DMC's to allocate. Very bad idea given the fact these two have previously fiddled the casp accounts (and got away with it) Turning a blind eye to fraud is the 'nuts and bolts' of how the council operates. In regards to voting rights rodgers and dando being part of the same house hold only have one vote between them.
The casp committee do not make available to the public actual proof that casp has even the 340 registered members its claims to have. The casp committee has not made public its committee minutes since April 07 when casp held its 3rd Annual General Meeting.
Going back to members benefitting from casp being in place: I have not noticed any improvements in the service I receive from the housing department, nor an improvement in the bad attitude of many of the housing officers. I have not seen any newsletters or anything by the casp committee that remotely suggests that the committee is working on my behalf. The casp committee has been too busy pursuing council and individual members agendas.
The only housing issue the casp committee appears to care about and makes a big pretenous noise about is 'defending council housing' ......... this 'cause' doesn't actually eminate from the casp committee actually consulting its members for its views on the matter rather it is petra dandos and david rodgers who push this agenda forward. What exactly has happened to the 775 street properties that have gone missing from the list? Rodgers and dando do like to keep in with those who will be useful to them such as Defend Council Housing camden branch who they are very friendly with.
What about the results of the casp 'walkabouts' - why hasn't this information been put on the casp website or sent out to members?
What about health and safety issues and the various pots of money that are available for security? nothing on the casp website about this........
What about capital works - why aren't members being kept informed about this?
Why hasn't the casp committee provided contacts for the casp 'district reps' on its website so that members can contact them? I know of one street property resident who phoned up his local housing office to enquire about this and was informed it was top secret and wasn't allowed to have this information! and casp is working on behalf of its members? I don't think so.
In three and a half years what has the casp committee done for itself?
Sorted out the housing problems of its committee members.
Received funding for three brand new laptops.
Maneovered themselves into close relationships with housing employees, niave councillors and the police.
Forced casp unto the DMC's with help from the housing directorate.
Received funding they are not entitled to.
Hold meetings at the Town Hall when other venues are available at half the cost.
Receive funding for internet access, phone calls, photo copiers.
Received illegal recognition and support from the housing directorate, the housing executive and other camden officials and councillors who do as they are told.
Fiddled the casp accounts and got away with it.
