Miss. Erica Three
Parkside Drive
New York City
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------
CONGRATULATIONS - WONDEROUS SUCCESS AS WRITER MUCH DESERVED.

SAILING SOUTHAMPTON - NEW YORK WED APRIL 10 ABOARD WHITE STAR 'TITANIC'.

ANTICIPATING REJOINING UPON OUR OLD FRIENDSHIP ON ARRIVAL.

YOURS MOST SINCERELY, STICKMAN.
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------
M. Stickman, Esq.
Saville Row
London.

Transmission: March 29, 1912.

This telegram was recently identified in a packet of personal correspondence belonging to the late authoress and auctioned at Sothebey's to an anonymous collector for $75,000.
Ms. Three's success as a writer continued through the 1940's. She won the 1933 Nobel Prize for Literature for her novel, 'Rain in the Evening', a poetic and deeply emotional evocation of her childhood growing up in rural Canada in the 1890's. In later life, she became involved in humanitarian endeavours such as the psychiatric rehabilitation of children in New York city.
The reference in the telegram is to her highly successful November 1911 novellette 'Friends and Strangers', a collection of witty caricatures of the New York social elite.
It is known that Mr. Stickman, a well known artist in Italian circles at the time, was lost aboard the RMS Titanic on the night of April 14, 1912.
Eyewitness accounts from the night report that he, John Jacob Astor and a group of wealthy gentlemen, had refused to be rushed to the lifeboats, but instead retired to the smoking lounge to await their fate. They were last seen having a lively and good-natured arguement about the merits and future of trans-atlantic air travel. A single, uncorroborated account, states that moments before the ship disappeared, the same group of gentlemen were on the aft boat deck with the band, singing 'Nearer my God, to Thee.'
It is conjectured that a gold ring, found during 1986 salvage operations at the site of the disaster, belonged to Mr. Stickman.

I read it but was in a hurry so I'll just say that I guess this was great writing. Okay, it was; it really was.

Very well written, I admire your work. I did have a relative in first class on the Titanic. He gave his seat to Miss Nye. She visited his wife and children later to extend her condolences.
