My tongue is numb & fumbling;
I cannot find the words
to soothe your pain:
and the distance widens
becomes a gulf
we cannot see to cross.
Turn away instead,
hiding behind anger & shame.
An awkward moment,
words are stilted, useless -
cause me to fidget;
eyes downcast, yearning for escape.
How I long to fling myself
into that void,
sailing, falling,
that you might hear
carried on the desert breeze,
a gasp, a whisper;
the last words left to me:
I am sorry. |

I am sorry too, stick. If YOU cannot find the words, then there are none.

Your words are powerful and none of them are wasted. I love all of your short stories, yet, I happen to especially enjoy your misc. submissions because getting to know the real stickman is no easy task. Your short stories are brilliant, but I would like to glean more about the brilliant writer behind the brilliant words. Usually just reading someones posts gives one a pretty good idea, but not always in your case? nosey rosie I guess?

Still catching up, but had to say I really like this one. Your poetry (not despite, but in addition to your fiction), is really very fantastic.
