| Crisis. |
|
Sirens in the night
creep up the spine;
wailing and jangling,
pulling at nerve endings.
Eyes too wide open,
drawn to imagined light;
staring and roaming,
seeking to rest on comfort.
Limbs in fatigued movement
called unbidden to action;
writhing and flexing,
wanting solace in touch.
Heart driving the pulse,
it’s rhythm fills the senses;
thumping and pounding;
fuelling dangerous desires.
The phone on the wall
sounds its insane chatter;
screaming and crying.
This can’t go on.
