Only Cash Payment and its Downside at Hostels
Only Cash Payment and its downside at hostels.

Going through websites of hostels all around Europe and their booking websites, you will find more and more telling you that when you check in you will only be able to pay in cash. No credit or debit cards are taken, which for some traveler is a bit of a pain, because we don’t want to carry too much cash around.
The other pain can come, if you have a problem at these places. 75% of the hostels taking only cash from you are illegal. Means, they are not paying taxes and that they are not really registered.
What does it mean to the guest staying there?
Well, suppose you have a problem in the hostel, like you got stuff stolen or something else, that requires you to go to the police and make a report; you will find yourself in the middle of a major problem. Even you are not responsible for any of what happens, you will have to testify about pretty much everything, because the police and the government will take that place apart for being illegal.
Every country has its own rules, but I do not want to have to testify at any police station, especially in Italy, Spain or France. You´ll have to put up with a long waiting time first, till they will find a translater and ………. just imagine
