Thoughts.com Blogs - Post Orientation Letdown

I just started my third week at my new job...which is working on the sales floor in retail. The first two weeks were all training basically and all of my superiors raved about what a great job I was doing...even to the extent of offering me a supervising job (because I have previous experience)...I had to go interview Friday at a different store...THREE interviews. And when I came back this week...nothing. That's the only problem I have with excessive praise and recognition just for the sake of it...is that it builds up false esteem in people. Because if the recognition doesn't continue on a regular basis, then you start thinking "well...maybe they aren't as impressed with me as they said...maybe I SEEMED great at first, but they see now that they were just mistaken. I want to ask if they know about the position yet, but I don't want to look nosy and over eager....BUT, on the other hand...they shouldn't leave me hanging either. ....blehhhh.....
