"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."- Matthew 6:5-13 (KJV)
Often people pray and pray, they even ask people to pray for them only to see no results. God does not do this to punish you He does this to strengthen your faith in Him as well as make sure you are prepared to handle that prayer being answered.
In the verses above Jesus is explaining to His disciples the proper way to pray. God knows exactly what we are in need of even before we ask Him, if you are praying for something that is going to cause harm to yourself or others you can rest assure that that prayer will not be answered. This is also true if you are praying for something useless over and over again. We all have needs and desires, but when they become more important to you than God He will wait until you realize that you are more focused on vanity than Him.
Another reason a prayer is not answered is because we are not truly believing that it will happen. When we pray we are to pray with faith as if that prayer is already answered. We are to go to God with confidence, talk to Him, let Him know that we need Him and keep it between you and God. Yes, you can ask someone to pray for you and it is also good to pray for others as well, but keep your prayers between you and God.
Keep doing these things and you can rest assure that those prayers will be answered. Then as you see them answered you can tell the world that God answered that prayer. Praise God.
