 Bible Study: Living in Fear
Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today is Thursday January 22, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Exodus.

Today's Message: Living in Fear
Many Christian's believe in God, but when situations arise they let fear control them rather than faith. It is important during these times that we seek God, not in criticism, but in faith to help us through our difficulties.

Today's Bible Reading: Exodus Chapters 14-16
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http:/www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus%2014-16&version=9

The Isrealites were finally freed from slavery in Egypt and on their way to the promised land. They had traveled only a short distance when they saw all the chariots of Pharaoh's army rushing toward them in a desperate effort to recover his slaves. "And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand." (Exodus 14:5-8).

The Isrealites called out for help in fear, hostility, and criticism against Moses. "And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." (14:10-14). The Israelites had seen the miracles in Egypt that had set them free; yet, they now chose not to trust God and His ability to provide for them. Although Moses could not see how the Lord would save them, he confidently declared, the Lord shall fight for you.

The Israelites should have believed God and trusted in His almighty power and loving care, for they had seen His miracles in Egypt that had set them free. However, when ever they were faced with what seemed to them impossible circumstances, they chose to let fear overwhelm their hearts. While things were going well, there was no apparent difference between the faith of Moses and that of the people. But, the same trial that revealed the Israelites' unbelief also revealed Moses' faith in the Word of God. The same is true today. We have been freed from Satan and the power of sinyet we live in fear when things look impossible.

When tough circumstances arise we must not let fear control us because all we are doing is creating a way for Satan to pull us away from God. God will help us through every situation as long as we put our faith and trust in Him. When you have no where to turn to, seek Him and Him only. He will not only give you peace, but provide a way out of what you are going through. "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" (Ephesians 6:14-17).

Jesus Christ is Revealed: Through themanna that fell from heaven.
"And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat." (Exodus 16:14-15). Jesus is the bread of life that feeds our hungry souls.

Today's Psalm: 84:11
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."

Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
We pray for relief from our distress,we pray that the light of Your face would shine upon us, for Youfilled our hearts with peace greater joyas we endure our struggles. You give us a sense of security when we lie down so that we can sleep in peace; for You alone,Lord, make us dwell in safety. We lie down and sleep and we wake again, because You sustain us. We will not live in fear because Youwill give us relief from all our sorrows. From You,Lord, comes deliverance and You shower Your blessings upon Your people. Thank You for caring for us, for sustaining us, and for providing for us.In Jesus' name...........Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day/night and be blessed.
God Bless You,
Christina
