 Should I do laser whitening?
I am planning to get some laser whitening done, so have been researching whether it is the best course of action. Here is what I have learned? Laser whitening is using peroxide to bleach the teeth to improve the shade, generally because the teeth have gone darker from damage of daily usage, and especially from damage from acidic drinks or smoking. It is a popular procedure and has the advantage over take home kits that it generally takes less time, it has the disadvantage that it is a more expensive technique. Also if you lack patience or are not so dedicated in following instructions it might make more sense to go for professional whitening with an accredited dentist as applying a home kit incorrectly can lead to uneven results. There are many different varieties of laser used in laser whitening for example BrightSmile, Zoom or Opalescence.

The procedure which is followed in professional laser whitening. First the dentist will make a mouth guard and take impressions of the teeth to make a mould which fits your teeth. Then in the next appointment a shield is placed on your gums to product the gums. Then the whitening gel is applied to the teeth with the mould tray. This whitening gel is either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. Once this is done either further visits can take place or a home whitening kit can be taken and the whitening can be finished at home.

I am considering it as I feel it would give the best improvement and would be the quickest of all the methods, I looked into veneers but they are very expensive, really only for if you are going to be on camera I feel. I also looked into strips but from what I have read it seems that they may give an uneven finish as they will not apply the substance evenly to teeth as teeth are not flat like strips are. There are other options for cosmetic dentistry but this one may have the largest effect.
