The Fallen Soldier
The Fallen Soldier
(One by One - Revised)

One by one, they get on the planes
All going in with increasing pains
You never know who will go first
You never know who will be nursed
Then one man said as others went past,
"I wonder how long this war will last."
I sat there looking side to side
Their emotions they all tried to hide
I could see right through
Their eyes full of pain
I knew I'd never see these faces again
The planes landed, the soldiers lined
I tried my hardest to keep my mind
The bombs are blasting, I hear their roar
This will be more than a year long war
The noise is gone, it's silent now
I take five steps and still no sound
Then I look down to see a face
The face of a fallen soldier
I stand in his place
