Resisting The World's Pressures

Romans 12:2:"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Everyday (Whether we are aware of this or not)We are pressured to do things because everyone around us does them. We buy products because everyone buys them,Watch American idol because everyone thinks its cool,Desire designer products because that is the "reigning trend."We upgrade to windows 7 because everyone else is doing it.We are pressured to Call abominable lifestyles "cool" because we want acceptance from the world.

We are also pressured to protect our status in the society:We accept the lies the worlds educational systems impose on us because we feel its our only path to success.Even when they blatantly negate what God's word says we say it is correct because we want marks.We lie to protect our employers interests( even when its against what we believe in)because we do not want to lose our jobs.We choose to follow the "family tradition" because we do not want to offend our family and loved ones.

Also,Society attaches Good names to abominations and bad names to righteousness in order to mold us to accept the abominable as being cool and acceptable and subsequently,we contribute in passing on these values to our peers and younger ones.Fornication is now called a "one night stand" or a "quikie"and people feel its cool engaging in it.In fact, its strange these days to find a virgin aged 20.Pornography is called "sexting" and Harlots are now called "sex workers" .Prostitutes and fornicators who sell their body in the open in Hollywood movies are awarded with Oscars ,paid handsomely for these roles,are made UN ambassadors and regarded by majority of the world as role models.All these are mind control tactics to make You respect the abominable and conform to it.

In order to be free from the worlds grip You must always remember that friendship with the world is enmity with God(James 4:4)You must be mindful of Jesus words in Luke 14:26:"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple".

-Heb 11: 15-16:"And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city".

You must be willing to deny Yourself of anything that attaches You to the world.It is Your desire to be acceptable and successful in this world that keeps You captive to its bondage.2 Timothy 4:10:"For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia."
Demas forsook Paul because he loved the present world.It is Your love for the world that makes You forsake Jesus and His truth for sin and compromise.As You can see in Heb 11:15-16 above the saints desired heaven not this world.They were willing to deny themselves of the city "they came out from"which is Babylon:The city of sin and embrace Heaven(God's city) That is how they were able to overcome the world.

You must always remember that You are the worlds standard, The world is not Your standard.You are the ones supposed to be changing the world to be like Jesus not the world changing You to be like itself.Never You forget that.
