the other half of the story
KNOWLEDGE IS THE KEY TO HEALTH.

The other half of the story is really about how a person reacts,
and that is in addition to emotional reactivity,
indeed we react when we experience unpleasant emotional reactivity.
This tied to the second question of ‘who would make the body malfunction?’
So let me answer that question first.
There is a growing number of controlling, manipulative people in society.
whose methods of gaining power and influence are achieved by
deliberately creating issues in those with whom they relate.
And as I will endeavour to help you discover that
unpleasant emotional reactivity & how a person react to it
is stress.
Toxic relationships are all about CREATED STRESS !
The other person’s health woes keeps them preoccupied
while the manipulative person can make the important and often all decisions.
This is the way they manage their lives,
or to take revenge or act out of jealousy.
And it mainly happens either at home or in the workplace,
which means it happens among family members or people at work.
Their methods are not obvious, as the nasty mind games are underhanded.
And anyone who speaks up is called paranoid.
BUT the evidence is clear
both in the workplace and within families stress is at a premium!
But here is the really good news.
As stress involves the victim’s reaction the victim can do something to overcome it.
The victim has the power to overcome it.
And I would like to say here that the stress that is created is not the victim’s fault;
For the victim is unaware of the real problem and for that reason reactive.
We can’t blame someone for their action if they have no knowledge.
And we can’t continue to blame the victim while ignoring the perpetrators.
However once the victim gains knowledge they can overcome the stress.
Not by drugs and therapies but by knowledge!
And that knowledge can also shine light on the perpetrators.
Once you know what is done and how your body is reacting
You are back in the captain’s seat ! You are in control.
“It is the set of the sails and not the prevailing gales
That determine the way your ship will go!”
BUT to captain your ship you needs knowledge,
Knowledge about what you are up against so you can set your sails right.
SO… on the one hand understanding what sort of mind games are played
(and please remember this has nothing to do with psychology
but real events, real ongoing conditions done by real people in the NOW!).
On the other hand unpleasant emotional reactivity plays a part and that is not rectifiable.
because emotions are valid body responses.
However the reaction to unpleasant emotional reactivity is not a valid bodily response.
So the way a person copes is of primary importance: It is the other half of the story!
How do we cope, particularly when the issues are not clear cut?
Again it is perfectly logical and nothing to do with psychology!
All people try to avoid knowledge of anything unpleasant,
most particularly when those unpleasant conditions are not clear.
They take refuge in what we commonly call a “comfort zone”.
A comfort zone is achieved by lowering our awareness to avoid the thoughts.
And as you will have seen for your self
thoughts give rise to movement in the body -emotional reactivity
so to overcome any unpleasant emotional reactivity
it is perfectly logical to try and remove the thoughts.
Those thoughts however are not removable,
And it has nothing to do with us choosing them or not.
It has to do with the fact that they depict environmental conditions
For example if the weather is cold, you will have thoughts indicating that it is cold.
If it is raining again your thoughts will reflect that condition.
If you are shopping at the supermarket again there are thoughts about that.
Most of these thoughts are subliminal but if you become reflective you will discover them.
Everything in our environment, whether favourable or unfavourable
will be reflected in our thoughts as they are the knowingness of our environment.
If the thoughts depict something that gives rise to unpleasant emotional reactivity,
we therefore try to remove the thoughts in order to stop the emotional reactivity.
Unfortunately we cannot remove the thoughts as knowingness is awareness
and a basic condition of creation; Even electrons are awareness.
We cannot change awareness we can only cloud it or allow it to be clear.
We can cloud our awareness by distracting or lowering our attention.
Most of the time this goal is achievable, even though it is not a healthy habit.
Clouding awareness is achieved by what I have coined “coping mechanisms”
You have heard of them but by different names.
There are two types.
One is called “keep busy, keep it out of mind”,
which is prized in our societies.
The other is called “if you don’t have to do it today, put it off till tomorrow”,
which is loathed in our societies.
BOTH ARE BAD!
To keep busy we raise energy production in our skeletal muscles.
To become idle we lower energy production in our skeletal muscles.
Thus I have named them…
Elevated Metabolism Coping Mechanism (or EMCM)
& Lowered Metabolism Coping Mechanism (or LMCM).
Both of them are achieved by manipulating the breath
and thus the levels of oxygen available to the body.
Oxygen is needed to make energy.
So when more oxygen is inhaled the body makes more energy.
And when less oxygen is inhaled the body makes less energy.
You can discover this for your self.
Observe that when you exercise you begin to breath deeper.
You are increasing your oxygen intake.
Observe next time you feel drowsy and sleepy
that your breathing becomes softer and shallower.
You are decreasing your oxygen intake.
These two are natural but we can utilize them artificially.
Why people choose one over the other is another story and too long to include here.
However the important fact is that both of them can be used artificially
to allow us to cloud awareness & find a comfort zone.
***
In mildly unpleasant conditions these are not very harmful,
although we still pay a price.
With EMCM: habitually breathing deeper when not exercising mainly means
the heart works too hard, blood pressure rises and
the lungs and rib cage becomes enlarged,
With LMCM: habitually breathing shallow in a waking state mainly means
the heart output is too low for waking activities, the blood pressure is low
and the lungs and rib cage become smaller and /or weaker .
In severely unpleasant conditions both are deadly! WHY?
