Book One: A Letter from Sam: Chapter Three: Shift
I dreampt of a different land, strange and wonderful. A pure blue sky was over me, a golden-white sun hanging in the air. It was a bit brighter than Earth's sun, probably a few thousand years younger. I had the most amazing feeling of inner peace just being there. All around me was a forest of silver-leaved trees, almost seventy feet tall. The youngest ones were shorter with pale white leaves, and the oldest ones' leaves had turned golden with their magnificent age. How I knew these things was a mystery to me, but it was a dream, so it didn't matter.
On the mature trees grew blue fruits, shaped like srawberries and a size to match. A sweetly scented breeze shifted the leaves from time to time. I seemed to have a body, though semi-transparent, so I climbed up one of the younger trees with ease and picked a fruit. When I bit into it, I was surprised to find it tasted like a combination between a strawberry and a blueberry. It was utterly delicious.
As I slid down the tree, something fluttered up and perched on my shoulder. I was so surprised that I nearly fell out of the tree to land painfull on the hard ground. As I started to lift my hand (There was something strange about it, but I barely noticed this at the time.) to brush off whatever had landed on my shoulder, I looked over and saw... A little person sitting there! It was a girl with brown eyes and vivid red hair, and a thin, fragile body. The thing most remarkable about her, however, was the four glowing, blue tinted white wings, two behind each shoulder. They were long and slender, each one a bit shorter than her height, which was roughly six inches. She smiled at me and waved, giggling. reminding me of my sisters.
I continued my climb down the tree with the winged girl on my shoulder, careful not to tilt my head too far and crush her tiny body. When I set foot on the ground, she hopped off of my shoulder and hovered in the air like a hummingbird. Seriously, just like a hummingbird. Her wings were giving off a high-pitched humming sound, they were moving so fast. It was a wonder that wings so tiny could move so fast, or be so strong.
"'Ello." she said in a high-pitched, stereotypical girly-girl voice. "My name's Ember. I'm a fairy." Before I could even start to contemplate this, let alone give a reply, a thin gray mist descended over me, and her voie was muffled.
I saw images of even weirder places than the silver-leaved forest, flickering past me at such a speed that I only caught glimpses. There was a barren, snowy, and blood stained, dominated by dead bodies and carrion. There was a sunny beach with pinkish-red sand and water, pink, white and blue shells littering it. There was even a city of sorts, only not the type you would think of. There were no skyscrapers, buses, or subway stations. There weren't even any cars, only horse-drawn wagons and carts full of queer fruits and vegetables, and other things that I couldn't even imagine. At one point an image of a blood-red, sandy desert that was forever encased in a lonely, chilly, windy night, the sky showing a round silver moon and a small glimmer of faraway stars, but otherwise black, flashed past.
Finally, after what seemed an eternity, someone gently nudged my shoulder. I woke up and instantly got up into a feral crouch, eyes wild. After my rather frightening night I was on the alert for any sign of danger, waiting for another assault of fire.
Of course, it was only Angel and Bryar. Bella and Sierra were nowhere to be seen.
"Come on, Sam!" yelled Angel excitedly. "Come meet our new friend! She gave us breakfast and.....And....." She trailed off, looking at me strangely.
"What?" I asked sleepily, rubbing my eyes with the back of my hand. My hands, feet, ears, and behind felt strange, prickly I realized. My eyes were sore, and my nails and teeth were killing me. Weird, but I'd had a virtually sleepless night, and so I didn't give a crap.
"Sam, come to the water and see yourself." Bryar said anxiously, pulling me towards a puddle of water I hadn't noticed before. I felt damp too. It must have rained while I was asleep. I closed my eyes and yawned widely, the stretched like a cat before following my little brother.
I nearly had a heart attack when I looked in the little pool of water. It couldn't be me, but..... it was.
I looked like some mutation of a human and a cat. My hands were now furry, strawberry-blonde paws with rough black pads and retractable black claws. My feet were no longer like feet, but more like paws. They looked the same as my hands. Instead of normal, human ears on the side of my head, I now had furry cat ears that were partly on top and partly on the side of my head. My eyes were... different. They were still the same color and shape, to my relief. But there was no way you could mistake them as human eyes, either. they had slit-like pupils that expanded and contracted with the light. It would have been pretty awesome, if not for the fact that I was totally freaked.
Now I inspected the rest of my face, running my hands over it. My nose was mostly normal, maybe a bit grayish and a tad smaller than before, but still my nose. I felt a little weird about the whiskers sticking out of my face, but I guess I could deal with it. Thankfully, I didn't have that abnormal fur all over my body. Only my ears, feet, hands and..............
Okay, you wanna know what really freaked me out? The tail. That's right, a freakin' cat tail was sticking out of my butt! I figured this out when I realized I had an extra bit of  furry spine trailing along behind me, covered in long-ish fur.
When I saw this, I did what any mature person would do.
 I screamed bloody murder.

Ah, half-cat. I see.

The only problems I have with this is that you misspelled "dreamt" (don't worry, I had to check on Word), and the fact that you made it seem like he knew it was a dream. I don't know about you, but I never realize it's a dream until I wake up.
