I just got a Mick Earl Discount on a haircut..I seriously wandered into this particular internet cafe about three hours ago, with the intent of checking some emails, and then leaving to go to the Tower Bridge and fun things like that, when some guy comes up to me and wants to know if I want a free haircut. And seeing as I’m poor and my hair is a disaster, I say yes. Now it’s two o’clock in the afternoon and I have a fringe. What an unexpected turn of events. I also got offered a free colouring, but given the state of my new dreadlock friends, I wasn’t game to have it done. The cut is really only a shorter version of what I already had, with a blunt fringe. The guy was a bit of a cutie, very nice about it all. (His supervisor told me I had nice ears)
So there isn’t really much to add beyond that...I was going to upload my photos documenting my adventures on the Bakerloo line, but the computer won’t let me, so I might have less on that than expected....I went to the Natural History Museum yesterday, way heaps crazy fun! Who said you need friends in order to have fun? All you need is a camera and a giant stuffed bison.
On the other hand, I still don’t rate Generator. What is wrong with people, why is no one friendly? It makes me sad. I thought that in hostels you were supposed to be there to meet people and have fun and pick up people of other nationalities in order to up your country tally, but no one seems to be that interested in being your friend! I have had to try so hard with everyone who’s come into the room...no one seems to want to offer a “hi, how you going?” A lot of people have been nice enough when I’ve initiated contact, but no one seems prepared to jump out of their comfort zone. And this is strange, because I’m really not the kind of person who does it herself, but I seem to be the only one making an effort with these people.
That being said, I did meet some nice American boys last night, from Chicago. Flight attendants, no less, but they assure me that they are straight. I invited them for a couple of drinks tonight, after I do the scary walking tour tonight, so hopefully they are keen for a couple. I think Ivy, the Estonian girl I met over breakfast the other day, is back in London today, so hopefully she will be about. While I’ve become really good at my own company lately, I AM here to make some friends, I just wish everyone else would be so helpful…
Is it strange that of the last two books I’ve read the protagonist has been named Esther?
Anyway, lunch is in order, and then some more touristy fun...I bought myself an Oyster card, I feel like such a local...haha, I’m a loser.
love you all, hope everything is good! |
