 Gum Chewing 101
I know that this subject really does not matter however, when you share an office with someone and she is an gum chewer, but not your average gum chewer it is only fair to share.  She puts an entire pack in her mouth. Cry  Mind you neither of us are young as a matter of fact we are both in our 40's. Embarassed After months, days, hours and minutes of listening to this obnoxious gum chewing, Yell I was about to blow and decided to walk away and come up with something very witty to say instead of yelling at her about how annoying it is and has been for me.  After cooling off a bit, I sat with my music louder than usual, I calmly turned to her and asked her if she was mad or upset about something.  She turned to me and said why?  Without hesitation I said:

"BECAUSE YOUR TAKING IT OUT ON YOUR GUM"!

With that she said, "Why am I chewing like a cow"?  And then proceed to spit out her gum.
I did not want to yell are scream since she is a very sensitive woman.  However, it only stopped for a few days.  I now just walk out or turn the music up and tap my feet or whistle. Just wanted to share.... Foot in mouth

Ask her to try chewing with her mouth closed. Is it the sound that bothers you or the size of the wad? What if she dicided to chew tobacco and used a spitoon to park the juice could you handle that. Is it possible to partition your space so you didn't have to look at each other? Why does it bother you what she is doing? Does it distract you from your work? I get the feeling that we are not dealing with the real issues here. Do you like her as a person, as a co-worker?

It is the LOUD noise that bothers me because it is distracting from my work. Even the people who come into our office and hear this are distracted as well. I think that it is just comon courtesy. I do like her and this is the only thing that bothers me about her.

I think it has to get to a point where you absorb the fact that you HAVE the right to ask her to stop making that sound.

If it was me.. I would finally say to her.. honey.. you know I like you.. but you are driving me insane with the chewing noise... you REALLY have to stop doing that...PLEASE!!!

dont give her an option to stop it today.. and come bak to it tomorrow... make sure you say YOU REALLY HAVE TO STOP doing that....

sometimes you haev to go out of your comfort zone... to make change happen... you get used to it with time... :)

my humble opinion...

and by the way I like your flower photo very much... nice colors.. :)
