Ask her to try chewing with her mouth closed. Is it the sound that bothers you or the size of the wad? What if she dicided to chew tobacco and used a spitoon to park the juice could you handle that. Is it possible to partition your space so you didn't have to look at each other? Why does it bother you what she is doing? Does it distract you from your work? I get the feeling that we are not dealing with the real issues here. Do you like her as a person, as a co-worker?

It is the LOUD noise that bothers me because it is distracting from my work. Even the people who come into our office and hear this are distracted as well. I think that it is just comon courtesy. I do like her and this is the only thing that bothers me about her.

I think it has to get to a point where you absorb the fact that you HAVE the right to ask her to stop making that sound.
If it was me.. I would finally say to her.. honey.. you know I like you.. but you are driving me insane with the chewing noise... you REALLY have to stop doing that...PLEASE!!!
dont give her an option to stop it today.. and come bak to it tomorrow... make sure you say YOU REALLY HAVE TO STOP doing that....
sometimes you haev to go out of your comfort zone... to make change happen... you get used to it with time... :)
my humble opinion...
and by the way I like your flower photo very much... nice colors.. :)
