So it’s been an interesting 24 hours. A few blocks from the hotel yesterday morning there was all kinds of military action. We drove by three streets that were blocked off by army trucks, and in the quick glance I had down the streets it......Read More

MORELIA

I could learn to love this place, I'm sure. Only regret is that I'm still feeling very ill. Got some stuff from the druggist, but it hasn't helped yet. Hopefully I get better over night so I can do more tomorrow. But, I did get out a bit today. The hotel I'm staying in isn't much to brag about......Read More

Across the street from my hotel is the oldest park in Morelia. I spent a lot of time people watching there. I just heard on the TV that today is World Aids Day, which explains why there were people in the park handing out condoms and literature. I was sharing a bench with 3 young men and they......Read More

MORELIA 3 THE CATHEDRAL!!!
|
Kitty corner to the hotel is the magnificent cathedral. I keep looking at it and thinking it can't be real. Construction started in 1660 and continued until 1744. I can't begin to imagine the effort it took to build something like this. I'm sure I'll be taking lots more pics, and I still have to......Read More

Also across the street is where several tour buses load, and I hope to be on one or more tomorrow. The uniformed gentleman is basically a traffic cop, and under his arm are license plates. Park illegally and he not only writes you a nice ticket, he removes your plates. You don't get your plates......Read More

And here are a few shots from the neighbourhood. All of the structures are old colonial era buildings, most of them orginally homes of rich Spaniards. Now many are hotels, but some are banks, office buildings, or goverment offices. The way these things are built I'm sure they have another few......Read More

BACK TO THE TEQUILLA EXPRESS.

Some shots from the distillery. Both the newer one that is operating, and the old one which is now a museum. When trying to lighten my load while packing I left behind my external flash, so I couldn't get much for decent pics inside the old distillery. The place is massive, employing 1200 people,......Read More

STILL IN MORELIA

Feeling a lot better today. Even woke up hungry for the first time in a few days. Too bad it was 4am! Dunno if I would have been able to find anything, so I rolled over for a couple more hours.
When I did get out of the room I had a nice......Read More
