A WEEK OF INDIAN POLITICS:
All parties were on war footing in consolidation of their groups of M.Ps and in luring the M.Ps of other parties and groups eithetTr by cash or kiinind .All these efforts are to win or defeat the confidence motion in the special session of the parliament summoned by the PRESIDENT OF INDIA.These efforts are unscrupulous and ruthless, most of the time.
The indiscipline and the defiance of the party whip by scores of M.Ps started blooming.Unexpected leader oft the pack was our most respected and senior parliamentarian, the Speaker .The biggest irony is that speaker belongs to the party which boasted that their party was not poachable or approachable while other parties were so,at a media conference immediately after trust vote.
s,
By this time, you all mest be aware of all the indiscipline, horse trading, unscrupulousnes, lust for money and power among some of our M.Ps, theilectioner number is not very big but it was enough to have influence the result of the vote. And this urges us to be more careful while electing our represntatives. Our selection should base on both the party and individual.
At the end of all this,I could not understand the use of the WHIP issued by the parties as it was not able to serve its purpose as the disciplinary action comes into effect only after the vote is over.
In view of all the above, I feel that,1)Votes of the M.Ps should go into their partys account.2)If any one wants to go against their party,he should resign and not participate in the vote. This is because, they were elected on their partys ideology. And the party decisions are binding on them.3)Only independent members have independence to vote as per their will and pleasure as they had been elected on the basis of their personal merits unlike the M.PS ELECTED on partys ideology and agenda.
If we have to avoid all the undemocratic, unscrupulous, shameful acts that happened during trust vote in the parliament of worlds 2nd largest democracy, our leaders should make necessary laws. |
