Where did you go?
“Where did you go?” That is what my daughter asked me yesterday when we were sitting in the living room talking. My mind had wandered off to that dark, sad place it goes quite frequently now days and I didn't even realize it. She saw. She saw me drift off. She saw the sadness cover my face and the faraway look in my eyes. I can't even remember what we were talking about or what my mind wandered away to ponder on. It bothers me that it happened, that she saw. Why does this happen and what can I say to her? I tried to laugh it off. Make a joke of it, but I hate it.

i'm sorry that you go to this dark place sometimes.. my mom does the same thing at times..and she would laugh it off also..but she would tell me its okay and it just happens.. and she would be honest about it.. for me just knowing she was okay made it better for me. so just letting your daughter know whats going on sometimes is okay too :) she can be there for you when you need her to be, and then you wouldnt have to go to that place alone.. your always in my thoughts and prayers!!

same thing happened to me while I was driving in the car with my kids(actually more than once) My kids would ask, "Mom, are you mad, or Mom are you sad, you have that face on?" I couldnt believe they noticed, I thought I was really faking it pretty good. All I said, was that I needed to concentrate on my driving and thats why I looked so seroius. One time I told ome of the kids I was sad, that was not a good idea. Even though I told them everyone gets sad once in awhile. They worry too much. They should not have to worry about me, they need to ne kids.

Wow.
Children are very perceptive--they can tell when something's wrong.

Are you seeing a doctor for your depression? If not, please do. Those "sad, dark places" get worse and worse.

Please get help for yourself ... think of your family. They want to see you be well.

Thank you for all your kind words and concern.:) I have been trying to get in to see a doctor and I just got insurance so I can go. I am in the process of filling out all the paperwork and signing all the forms just to get into see a doctor. I think all I have left to do is promise my first born grandchild and sign it in blood and I will finally be able to see one. Talk about depressing! ha! This has been one of the things bugging me. I knew something was wrong a while ago. I needed to see a doctor but couldn't because
A. I didn't have insurance
B. I couldn't afford it without
insurance.
I finally get covered even though I really cant afford the premiums and now I have to fill out this ridiculous amount of paperwork and sign all these authorization forms. That is enough to drive someone over the deep end right there. Got to love our heath care system here in the states!

Sorry for the rant. It is one of those day. :)

I tend to drift off too. Try to find someone who you can be honest with, who will not judge you - a doctor is good, a friend is better. Good luck.
