Everyday I face fear
and he faces me back.
I say, "No! I am not afraid of you."
he just stands there and laughs.

"You are afraid to feel,
afraid to go it alone.
You are afraid of rejection,
No one calls YOU on the phone."

"You are afraid to trust,
afraid you will be let down.
You are afraid to really be yourself,
you might be thought a clown."

"You are afraid of failure,
why do you even try?
Might be best if you went back to bed,
just curled up and died."

"No!" I say. "I won't listen to you.
YOU won't rule MY life.
I've made it this far, I'm gonna keep going
though my life is filled with strife."

"Maybe I do fear those things,
but I am NOT afraid of you!
I've made it this far, I did it alone.
I will make it through."
