I have been doing some research for the book I am working on. Lately it has been in personality development.
Specifically on the topic of changing one's personality, some people I have talked to have this idea that it can not be changed, period. Academia had this same idea for quite some time going as far to say who you are at 30; is who you shall remain. I know from my own experience, observing and talking to others; that this is simply not the case. As with all things human, it is a question of desire.
If you like being an aggressive ignorant know it all; why would you change? Again assuming you enjoyed this world view.
Change is part of life, so saying people can not change is just a tad hypocritical. The danger of that misconception is that you become powerless to helping yourself out. Self-help on the other side of the coin is for the most part bs. Read one of those books and you instantly know it is not completely on the level. Nor are most of these books practical, I recall reading Deepak Chopra, and being inundated with so many things one could do that the mere practice was entirely impossible to sustain.
The reason for this confusion and filler is pretty simple, there is no long term supply of money in equipping people with simplistic, tested, long lasting, and practical means. My book goes into that exact category; then again, I am not motivated highly by money. I am how ever poor enough, to have integrity.
