 The Day After
My extended family (Mom, Aunt, etc.) may not support him for some insane reason, but I have been strongly on Obama's side for the last eight or nine months. When someone STOLE the bumper sticker off of my car, I immediately ran to my computer and print out huge signs that are still plastered all over the inside of my windows. You can take my bumper sticker, but you can't take my opinion!

I love Barack Obama. I love his gentle resolve, his silent strength and integrity. I love the safety I feel when I see his face or hear his voice. I know what he has ahead of him, I know that there are those who are not ready to see him in office (some of whom are violent and ready to prove their point), and I realize that he will have a magnifying glass on him for much of this first term. I plan to pray for this man each night as I fall asleep. I will pray for his guidance and resolve to continue and strengthen, for good decisions and progress to be his at every turn, but most of all I pray for this man's safety so that he may do his job. God bless him each day, and God bless this country for breaking through a very large chunk of the prejudice in this country. Just to imagine that African Americans were treated like second class citizens (and some still are), that their race has survived the atrocity of slavery, not so long ago...TODAY...we are on the precipice of a new era in history. We will be a part of history books and talked about for decade after decade. Parents will explain the importance of this to their children, and those who lived through the civil rights movements of the fifties and sixties will fall on their knees in disbelief over and over again for months, every time they realize the enormity of what we have done.

I am so proud to have played a part in this decision and I am FILLED with hope. I want to shout my support from the rooftops and join hands with all those who had tears in their eyes as they watched that refined, strong man proudly walk onto the stage last night with his family. God bless him.

What a great post! I too am an Obama supporter, and was since the first time I heard him speak - his message is different; his vision is different, and you can really see the wisdom in his eyes and that determined look on his face. I'll join you in those nightly prayers - I think that's a great idea. And I hope that I will get well enough to volunteer some of my time for my country. Because of medical problems, I'm forbidden from serving in the armed forces (truth is, they know I'd fly circles around 'em!), but there are many ways I can give back to America, and I hope to soon. It is inspirational for me to hear such love of country, such patriotism coming from you. And to stand up against peer pressure from family... Like the people that spent hours in line to vote, you've made sacrifices in order to do what you know is right. Awesome!
