 Just Getting Started
I have been writing most of my life, in one form or another. Seems to me that I may not be as witty as I believe myself to be when I am scribbling in a journal, or when I am thinking about what it is that I would scribble in my journal, had it been nearby during a particularly annoying moment. Much of my writing has come in the form of poetry. Worry not, this blog will not be loaded down with incomprehensive thoughts about loves I have lost or dreams I have yet to accomplish. Forget that. No, I want to sharpen my writing skills while emptying my mind of clutter, whenever the mood strikes me. Sounds reasonable enough for an American citizen in the year 2008.

I want to share thoughts about the things that make my days and nights better or worse, whether others share my opinions or not. I don't plan on being scared (anymore) of what someone might say about my "darker" thoughts. As my profile suggests, I have lived a rich, emotional life (sometimes it feels like several, and most of them awful) and believe what I know to be sound, well-informed, and spiritually guided (in more ways than one). So often do we hide what we really are in favor of saving face. I am prone to do a bit less hiding these days and a bit more of embracing myself and my experiences without asking for permission.

Who knows, maybe some people out there will agree with my viewpoints, and I wouldn't I be a stronger individual for having their support? I think so.

That said, I may also be using this opportunity to review all of the beautiful films that I see each week which shape my thoughts and moods. I want to share them with like-minded people who also have a passion for film. There is so much to say about the themes explored in good film. I am constantly thirsty for more information about the "human condition" and how others cope with it. Film is a clean, shiny mirror with which to gaze upon other cultures and people and see how alike we all are. I take great strength and comfort in knowing that nomatter how alone I feel...I am not.
