 Friday & Some Sanity
Today is a day for getting some work done to feel accomplished and then sitting around goofing off. I'll pick out a new foreign, maybe indy, film or two and sit back with a huge mug of coffee and let the images flood my brain.

I would just love to find some friends who have Netflix and are interested in creating an "Oprah-esque" group with me...a la "Book Club" flavor. Anyone who loves independent films, documentaries, & foreign films (along with a few mainstream films sprinkled in) can be a part. I propose we watch the same film within a certain time frame, say a week or so, and then all give our reviews and comments in a forum, or here on my blog. It can be the "Friday Film Forum." OK, not my most creative moment (the name, I mean).

Anyway, I would love to have some takers on this. It would give me one more reason for loving my day off on Fridays! What do you say? Perhaps I can begin by recommending one of my own recent favorites, sure to touch everyone. It is every genre of film wrapped into one (despite the spooky trailer). I was floored by this one at first viewing. It is so much more complex than it admits to being. The title: "The Orphanage." If you can't find it right away, it came out in 2007, and the Spanish title is "El Orfanato."

I'll give this a couple of weeks and tag some of my friends who might be interested.
Let me know what you think.

That's perfect! and it's a "watch instantly" pick on Netflix, so we can watch it anytime.

I'd suggest setting up a Facebook group. It's easy there to set up different topics in a group, so maybe one topic for each film?

You are the best! I am addicted to instant Netflix!

It might just be us for the time being. Does "Sher" have any interest?

I don't have netflicks, but I do own lots and lots of DVDs, many of them are independent films.

I saw The Orphanage in the theater, if you can believe it played in Orlando! I wrote a review of it:

if you want to read my review.
