YO! Parents, Just Don't Understand!!!

My Mom does my sister's and my income tax returns every year. She is nice that way. I will be getting some money back because my Mom searches hi and low and reads and studies up on all the rules so that I pay no more than my share. She does all our Federal, State and Local taxes.

This year is hardest because we are both going to school. So she has to deal with something new, students loans and grants. She has to study up on the best way for me to claim interest on our school personal loans, tuition expenses and grants. I think it sucks that grants, which are used for education purposes are considered income by the Federal government. Instead of using itemization she will use the standard deduction the government gives, which of course is more that all my deductions put together. She could have use my Tuition and Fees as a deduction but instead she use it as a credit. All those deductions and credits significantly lower my income. So, I get a refund instead of having to pay more taxes and is all perfectly legal. I get money back and I love it and I have plans for my money.

Yeah! Until mom hit me with the house property tax, she wants my contribution to help her pay the tax to be about 500.00 and now that makes me angry. I fought with her over it and she got upset and told me not to bother and to keep all of.

I said, "Mom, you said, "I am going to let you leave free at home until you finished school."   Now, Mom, you hit me for 500.00 for the house property tax that runs 2,000 a year. That ticks me off because I was counting on that money to pay some to the school and the other to buy a great TV set. I want to use the President's rebate which for me is only 300.00 to help pay for my new TV. I have a good TV in my room but I want a new kind of TV.

I argued with her and I told her, "You have not done anything to help me with my school as you say you wouldl." She got very angry.   I told her, " You do not make sandwiches for me to take to school, I am so skinny now because I have no money to buy food. I have to pay for gas to drive to school which is 20 minutes away. Mom, when the money for my taxes comes in I have to hand it over to the school and use a bit to by my new TV."   Now, she is pretty upset and starts telling, "Is all about me, me, me."

I told her my grandmother is doing more for me than her and she gets that hurt look in her eyes.   I told her that grandma is giving me 1,000 dollars to help me pay for my school and that I should go live with her. I also told her that I don't really live at home and that I sleep at my girlfriends house all the time.

I mean, why should I pay for room and board when I am seldom home.  So what if I take a shower, do my laundry and spend some time in my room. I hardly call that living at home. Now, I am quitting my part -time job or should I say, let them fire me so that I can collect unemployment. I hate that low paying job. I hardly got time to do anything else but go to school then go to work for 100.00 per pay check. It sucks! I don't want to do it any more.

My Mom, is really upset now. She told me,   "You keep your paper money, I don't want a dime from you."   I think my Mom is over reacting and she just does not understand. I want to help her out because she does not have much money and she pays all the bills but I want to have some money for myself and buy my TV. I tell you my Mom just don't understand.

My father does nothing for me nor help me in any way. He left us when I was twelve. My Mom has worked to support all of us. My sister and I live at home. I am 25 yrs. old and my sister is 21 yrs. old. My sister goes to school and works all the time. My mother never complains about her. Is always me.   My Mom, just don't understand me.

She never complains about my sister, who goes to school same hours I go and works all the time. She only complains about me.  I don't think that is fear. I asked her how much my sister gives towards the home owner property tax, which is 2,000 a year and she said. "Your sister always gives 500.00."   Well, that is fine, but my sister makes more money than me. "Yeah! Mom says, She works long hours all the time."     I hate this talk because I know my Mom, just don't understand!!!
