Tabitha or (Dorca) in ( Acts 9:36) of the Bible. She described as a mathetria, which means "female disciple."
There are others. The female disciples are there at the most difficult and dangerous point of biblical record of Jesus' ministry. Jesus hand picked twelve disciples, then 11, because of Judas the traitor, all eleven "left Him and fled." Matt. 26:56 Bible.
It was the women who continue to follow Christ to the cross, and stayed at the foot of the cross, and went to the tomb, along with Joseph of Arimathea. The women at the empty tomb were the first disciples to witness the resurrection of Christ and the ones instructed to inform the apostles (Matt. 28:5-10).
Mary Magdalene is the first follower of Jesus to arrive at the empty tomb (John 20:1), Mary met angels and then Jesus himself at the tomb (20:11-17.) Mary Magdalene is the carier of the news of both the empty tomb (20:2) and the resurrected Lord (20:18) to other disciples. This observation makes the courage of mary Magdalene stand out all the more. The apostles were cowering behind closed doors (20:19)
In the Great Commission, it is Mary Magdalene who the risen Lord sends to his'brethen' (20:17), 'before' the apostles receive Christ's command, sending them out with the message of forgiveness in the power of the Holy Spirit (20:21-3) Mary became the first messenger commissioned by the risen Christ in the Gospel of John.
